They decay in me like the flesh of a dead mare
Seeping into my veins and turning my insides black
Your eyes become tar that spills into me
My skin becomes a tomb as I drift in the darkest ocean of my hate
I remain lost in the endless winter of you
The opening lines of the lyrics paint a vivid picture of emotional coldness and decay. The comparison of the singer's words to the coldest frost signifies a deep sense of emotional detachment and cruelty. The decay described here is not only physical but also emotional, indicating a deterioration of the singer's inner self as a result of the harsh and hurtful words spoken by another. The imagery of the flesh of a dead mare further emphasizes the sense of lifelessness and decay that these words bring into the singer's life.
The next lines delve deeper into the impact of these words on the singer's emotional state. The metaphor of the words seeping into their veins and turning their insides black suggests a profound sense of toxicity and corruption. The use of black as a color symbolizes darkness, negativity, and despair, indicating the overwhelming and destructive nature of the emotions evoked by these words. The imagery of tar spilling into the singer's eyes further reinforces the idea of contamination and blindness, hinting at the singer losing sight of clarity and light in the face of such negativity.
Continuing with the imagery of darkness and decay, the lyrics describe the singer's skin becoming a tomb amidst the darkness of their hate. This metaphor highlights the suffocating feeling of being trapped and consumed by negative emotions, to the point where the singer's very being feels like a burial ground for their own festering feelings. The reference to drifting in the darkest ocean of hate conjures a sense of being adrift in a sea of turmoil and negativity, unable to find a way out or escape from the overwhelming tide of emotions.
The final lines of the lyrics encapsulate the overall sense of despair and hopelessness that permeates the singer's emotional landscape. The mention of being lost in the endless winter of the other person signifies a perpetual state of coldness, bitterness, and emotional detachment that the singer feels trapped within. The imagery of winter further emphasizes the barren and inhospitable nature of their emotional environment, where warmth and light seem distant and unattainable. In essence, these lyrics portray a bleak and desolate emotional journey fraught with pain, decay, and a profound sense of loss.
