Anything But.
At a time where most of us could agree that very few artists in today’s music world are genuine in their approach, a new grade of musicians from Buffalo, NY arrive to oppose the general commonality of the underground scene, with their dark, but albeit authentic and heartfelt brand of emo infused indie rock. As their debut EP “You Can’t Rebuild Forever” makes its mark, the honest representation of thoughts, ideas, and emotions will certainly be something that resonates with every listener. The Traditional is a unique example of a band that is able to embrace their musical influences rather than copy them to call it a product. Expect nothing but a raw, high energy, and honest standard from The Traditional on record, as well as in the live setting. Their strides towards sharing their design with as many listeners as possible can only be measured by the integrity of the band’s music and their drive to work as hard as they can to get their message heard. In a moment where the stereotypes seem to have outweighed the art, The Traditional remind us that there is still something very real about what it means to express yourself through music.
"You Can't Rebuild Forever" was recorded in the summer of 2012 with Jay Zubricky (Pentimento, Every Time I Die, I Can See Mountains) at GCR Studio in Buffalo, N.Y.

cnd never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot?
cnd auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
We too have run about the hills
cnd picked the daisies fine
But we've wandered many a weary foot
Since auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne
There's a hand my trusted friend
cnd give me a hand of thine
cnd we'll take a rack of bitter draught
For auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne
The lyrics to "Auld Lang Syne" by The Traditional speak to the theme of nostalgia and remembrance. The phrase "auld lang syne" translates to "old long since" or "days gone by" in Scots language. The song reflects upon the past and asks whether old acquaintances should be forgotten or left behind. It emphasizes the importance of cherishing and celebrating those relationships.
The first verse poses the question of whether old acquaintances should be forgotten and suggests that they should not be. The chorus, which is repeated throughout the song, affirms the sentiment of retaining old friendships and memories by taking a cup of kindness.
The second verse discusses the shared experiences and memories of running in the hills and picking flowers. However, it acknowledges that since those times, they have endured many hardships and traveled many weary miles. Despite this, the chorus reaffirms the commitment to taking a cup of kindness for auld lang syne.
In the final verse, the song mentions a trusted friend extending a hand, symbolizing the importance of connection and friendship. It proposes drinking a bitter draught, which represents both the challenges they have faced together and the resolution to continue celebrating the past.
Overall, "Auld Lang Syne" is a reflective and emotional song that encourages us to remember and honor the connections we have made throughout our lives, even as we navigate the changes and challenges of time.
