1) The Tubes is a San Francisco-based theater rock band popular in the mid 1970s and early 1980s. Their eponymous 1975 debut album included the single "White Punks on Dope," while their 1983 single "She's a Beauty" was a top-10 U.S. hit and its music video was frequently played in the early days of MTV.
Known for their live performances that combined music performances, the band used many different unique costumes (in some acts they wore leotards with painted on nipples and pubic hair). They made satires of life in the USA; the media, consumerism, and politics. They were often banned in the Midwest USA.
The Tubes continue performing live, with several members of the original band still in the touring lineup.
2) The Tubes is a five-piece Garage Funk band from Switzerland. Brainchild of Harry Tuttle and Barbie Tube, and formed in 2006, they released their first recordings in 2007.

The Tubes Lyrics

But she's not altogether right
All her parts are not screwed on tight
There's a touch of tragedy
When she moves
You can see the secret showing through
She'd deny it if she thought I knew
Anyone would think there's nothing wrong,
She looks so satisfied
But I've known about her much too long
She can't conceal what she feels inside
I'm gonna show her that piece by piece, inch by inch
I can put her back together again
I'll supply the love she lacks
And give her back exactly what she needs
Bringin' it piece by piece
All I need
To find a way around her defense
Is just a little common sense
I don't have a strategy
I'll be there
Like I have so many other times
She'll reveal to me a certain sign
That only I can see
Anyone would think there's nothing wrong,
She seems like she's complete
But it's obvious it's been too long
Since she believed what she needs is me
I'm gonna show her that piece by piece, inch by inch
I can put her back together again
I'll supply the love she lacks
And give her back exactly what she needs
Bringin' it piece by piece
Anyone would think there's nothing wrong,
But she's not fooling me
Everybody wants to lead her on,
But I believe what she needs is me--what she needs me
I'm gonna show her that piece by piece, inch by inch
I can put her back together again
I'll supply the love she lacks
And give her back exactly what she needs
Bringin' it piece by piece
The Tubes's song Piece By Piece is a poignant exploration of a woman who on the surface appears to have it all together, but beneath the carefully crafted exterior, lies a deep-seated sense of sadness and longing. The opening lines set the tone for the song, as the singer observes the woman's physical attractiveness, but notes that "all her parts are not screwed on tight." There's a sadness that permeates the song, reinforced by the line "there's a touch of tragedy," which suggests that the woman's problems are deep-seated and intractable.
Despite her attempts to conceal her pain, the singer can see "the secret showing through." He's convinced that he can help her, however. He believes that "piece by piece, inch by inch" he can put the woman back together again. He's optimistic that with his help, he can supply the love she lacks and give her what she needs. The song's spare, understated arrangement reinforces the sense of a quiet struggle taking place beneath the surface.
