It's Alright it's Okay
The U.S. Army Airborne & Infantry Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Standing around in your kitchen
The dogs are all wetting the floor
Your anger to them turns religious
Isn't that what that mop bucket's for

I wanna smoke in the backyard
Staring up into the sky
I had a good time at your party
Why don't we just let it lie

Cus it's okay
It's okay
It's okay with me

I wanna run down the dirt road
I wanna howl at the moon
Let's see what'll burn in the bonfire
Let's dance in its light in the nude

Cus it's okay

It's okay
It's okay with me

Overall Meaning

The U.S. Army Airborne & Infantry's song "It's Alright it's Okay" is a song about letting go of your anger and embracing the moment. The first verse talks about a messy kitchen, with wet dogs and an angry owner. The line "Your anger to them turns religious" suggests that the anger is so intense that it's almost like worship, which is a clever way of showing how irrational and all-consuming anger can be. The next line, "Isn't that what that mop bucket's for," is a bit sarcastic, suggesting that the person should calm down and clean up the mess instead of getting angry at the dogs.

The second verse talks about the desire to let loose and have fun. The line "I wanna smoke in the backyard" suggests a desire to break free and enjoy the outdoors without any constraints. The line "Why don't we just let it lie" is a call to forget about the anger and enjoy the moment. The third and final verse is about embracing the wildness of life. The desire to run down a dirt road and howl at the moon is a way of celebrating the freedom of the moment. The line "Let's see what'll burn in the bonfire/Let's dance in its light in the nude" is a bit provocative but again shows a desire to embrace the moment and live life to the fullest.

The song is ultimately about embracing life's messiness and letting go of anger to enjoy the moment. It's a reminder to live life to the fullest and not to let anger or other negative emotions get in the way of experiencing all that life has to offer.

I really enjoy this. My Senior Drill Sergeant would excusively sing this or another candance while marching. He passed away after my cycle graduated and we dearly miss him. It makes me happy being able to hear this, even if its not him singing.
Rest in Peace SDS Melton. The army really lost a real one. Always Forward.

I served 12 years and hearing these brings back memories, I sang some of them for my daughter and she listened to some of yours and just loved them, keep leaning forward and keep up the good fight

This cadence will always bring back memories of basic at Leonard wood. Hearing it echo around from the companies nearby while the rest of the world was waking up and the the cold air engulfed everything.
