Rewind
The Undercover Dream Lovers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I told her I'm her friend
I'm feeling so left out
Please don't buy into doubt
I can't find in-between
That's what you taught to me
Just take it all and leave me
He's stuck inside his head
That dog won't bark again
No leash can comprehend
That terrible rainbow
Got off from your sorrow
Your teardrop doesn't show
Hold on
I'd like to
Get through it
This time
I might
Undo it
I'd just like to
Rewind
She don't know who I am
I told her I'm her friend
I'm feeling so left out
Please don't buy into doubt
I can't find in-between
That's what you taught to me
Just take it all and leave me
Sell every inch
of yourself
to the spaceman
try to buy me back (I can't find in-between/That's what you taught to me)
I'm not for sale anymore (Just take it all and leave me)
Hold on
I'd like to
Get through it
This time
I might
Undo it
I'd just like to
Rewind
Hold on
I'd like to
Get through it
This time
I might
Undo it
I'd just like to
Rewind
The Undercover Dream Lovers's song "Rewind" talks about feelings of anxiety, sadness, and regret. The singer is struggling with being left out and misunderstood. He feels like he can't find a middle ground as he has been taught to take everything that comes his way and just leave it. He is also struggling with a feeling of disconnection and betrayal from someone who he considers a friend. The lyrics "She don't know who I am, I told her I'm her friend, I'm feeling so left out, please don't buy into doubt" explains how the singer wants his friend to understand how he feels and not to doubt his feelings.
In the second verse, the lyrics talk about a guy who has lost his confidence and is stuck inside his head. The phrase "That dog won't bark again, no leash can comprehend" could be a metaphor for a person who has lost their fight and is unable to express themselves. The phrase "terrible rainbow, got off from your sorrow, your teardrop doesn't show" could represent the sadness associated with living a life without color and having to suppress emotions.
The chorus is about the singer's longing for a second chance. He wishes he could go back and undo his past mistakes, rewind time and change how things played out. He wants to have another chance to change things and make them right.

I found your music by similar artist search on Spotify, while trying to build a playlist with vocals sounding like In The Air Tonight and Beach Boys. Using Hideaway from Geowulf, Los Angeles from The Midnight, Ocean Drive by Duke Dumont and The North Wind Blew South by the Headless Heroes I made a fine list which chills me as fuck, and I love it. I fell in love with Rewind and Come Home instantly, and I was thinking I just found something millions already follow. Well I didn't. I hope that changes, and this gets noticed. This is piece of art that you are doing.

52 years old and this brings me back to when I first heard the Pet Shop Boys or OMD. Great modern sound to what seems to be an early 80's synth-pop influence.
