Universe
The Violent Youth Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
In some place without crowd
Here it never never will be loud
The stats are memories
Please don't let me forget
And I beg you for not making me mad
You, you think there is nobody who wants to be true
So take your universe with you
From starting on the moon
You'll end up on the sun
Don't regret the things you've done
Our minds are just a mist
And our world is unreal
Let it go just to make you feel
The lyrics of "Universe" by The Violent Youth portray a sense of detachment from the chaotic and noisy world, suggesting a desire for solitude and peace away from the crowd. The opening lines speak of a place where it is quiet and serene, emphasizing a longing for tranquility. The mention of memories and the plea to not forget them indicate a bittersweet nostalgia, suggesting a reluctance to let go of past experiences that have shaped the singer's identity. There is a vulnerability in the request to "not make me mad," hinting at a fear of losing control or composure in the face of emotional turmoil.
The lyrics then shift to a contemplation on authenticity and human connections. The lines convey a sense of disillusionment, with the singer questioning whether anyone truly desires honesty and genuine interactions. The inability to "restore the people who have been with you" reflects a sense of loss and the realization that relationships may be irreparably damaged. The directive to "take your universe with you" conveys a sense of self-reliance and autonomy, suggesting that one should carry their own world and values with them regardless of external influences.
The imagery of starting on the moon and ending up on the sun symbolizes a journey from darkness to light, from uncertainty to clarity. The lyrics encourage acceptance and moving forward without dwelling on regrets. The acknowledgment that "our minds are just a mist" and "our world is unreal" speaks to the transient nature of human existence and the impermanence of reality. The advice to "let it go just to make you feel" suggests a release of attachment to material concerns and a focus on inner peace and personal growth.
Overall, "Universe" by The Violent Youth conveys themes of introspection, self-discovery, and the quest for authenticity in a world fraught with noise and chaos. The lyrics encourage reflection on past experiences, acceptance of imperfections, and a willingness to let go of burdens in order to find inner fulfillment. The song captures a yearning for solitude, a desire for genuine connections, and a sense of empowerment in creating one's own reality amidst the uncertainties of life.
