Beauty
The Void Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Breathe through my veins
Show me an image
Write me your name
Spending when busy
Clutching when sane
Eyes large as tumours
Hearts large as apes
Keep your eyes on me
Electric Beauty
Keep your eyes on me
Electric Beauty
Can't make it home
I got no phone
Breathe in my ghost
Cause I lost my soul
Press your eyes on me
Electric beauty
Keep your eyes on me
Electric Beauty
Electric Beauty
Keep your eyes on me
Electric Beauty
Keep your eyes on me
The lyrics to The Void's song "Beauty" seem to capture a sense of longing and a search for something meaningful in life. The opening lines, "Flow through my bones, Breathe through my veins," suggest a desire to feel alive and connected to the world. The next line, "Show me an image, Write me your name," could be interpreted as a plea for something tangible to hold onto, a symbol or a name to represent the intangible beauty that the singer seeks.
The following lines, "Spending when busy, Clutching when sane," convey a sense of contradiction and confusion. It could imply that the singer is caught in a cycle of trying to find fulfillment through material possessions or distractions, but ultimately realizing that true beauty lies in simplicity and clarity of mind. The imagery of "Eyes large as tumors, Hearts large as apes" further emphasizes the overwhelming nature of this quest for beauty, as if it consumes the singer.
The repetition of the phrase "Keep your eyes on me, Electric Beauty" suggests a desire for validation and attention, as if the singer is pleading for someone to recognize the beauty they are searching for. The lines "Can't make it home, I got no phone, Breathe in my ghost, Cause I lost my soul" reveal a sense of alienation and disconnection, as if the singer feels lost and disconnected from their true self. The repeated plea to keep their eyes on the singer reinforces the need for connection and affirmation in their search for beauty.
Overall, "Beauty" portrays a struggle to find meaning and beauty in a world that often feels overwhelming and disconnected, while highlighting the human need for validation and connection.
