I Can't
The Walkers Lyrics

Just waitin' on the sun
I've given up, damn the dawn
It ain't never gonna come
Something's wrong, as long as you're gone
I'm not gonna sleep til I touch your face
Baby not a wink I could go for days
Take a look at me, baby I can't sleep
Remember when you said you wouldn't last
I couldn't swallow my pride
Whoa it's sinkin' in, baby losin' you has
Finally opened my eyes
I'm wide awake, as long as it takes
I'm not gonna sleep til I touch your face
Baby not a wink I could go for days
If you ever needed to see me down on my knees
Take a look at me, baby I can't sleep
I'm not gonna sleep til I touch your face
Baby not a wink I could go for days
If you ever needed to see me down on my knees
Take a look at me, baby I can't sleep
The Walkers' song 'I Can't' is a heart-wrenching ballad about the singer's struggle to come to terms with the absence of a loved one. The lyrics describe a sleepless night, waiting for the dawn that never seems to come, while the singer grapples with the reality that their lover is no longer with them. The refrain "I'm not gonna sleep til I touch your face" is a powerful declaration of the singer's desire to be reunited with their loved one.
Throughout the song, the lyrics suggest that the singer's inability to sleep is a symptom of a deeper emotional turmoil. The powerful line "Remember when you said you wouldn't last, I couldn't swallow my pride" suggests that the singer has been grappling with the end of the relationship for some time. The loss of the loved one has finally "opened [their] eyes," making it clear that they cannot go on without this person.
The song is a powerful exploration of grief, heartbreak, and a determination to fight for the one you love. The lyrics are poignant and emotive, perfectly encapsulating the turmoil of an ended relationship.
