The band was fronted by John Denney with his brother Dix on guitar, bassist Dave Trout, drummer Nickey "Beat" Alexander and another guitarist Cliff Roman. They were originally an art-rock band formed in 1976, and were featured in a news article featuring punk rock groups in Time magazine and so it stuck. They had a very strong D.I.Y. ethic. They dressed in anything they could get their hands on; bags, straps, chains, etc. David Horvitz is noted as having calling the band's fashion "Changes quicker than a cheetah."

They broke up in 1981, but reunited at various times, including to record the 1990 album Condor. A 2004 reunion includes in the band's lineup Circle Jerks bassist Zander Schloss.

I’ve lived in Portland my whole life and I have seen these kind of goths since I can remember and I thought they were pretty cool, but my little sister randomly became terrified of them and my mom thought it was a big problem (bc they’re everywhere!!) so after that whenever we went out and saw them my mom would take my sister up to them and ask them if they wanted to say hi and some even offered to let her touch their clothes or hug them lol it seemed sweet but it was so chaotic!!! Imagine goths randomly holding my little sister whiling she’s wailing her head off, my mom is off to the side smiling and spewing all this “it’s okay!! Omg yay!! They are so nice!! Say hi Amy!!!” Shit and the the goths are awkwardly smiling and thinking “what the fuck is wrong with this lady????” I think my mom traumatized her even more lol

I love this! I can understand where these gothic weirdos are coming from. Since early childhood I have loved the gothic, occult, and supernatural. I have always been fascinated by ghosts, haunted houses, vampires, witches, etc. I also love moody gothic music, gothic horror books and films, cold, grey, windy, rainy, stormy "gothic weather", etc. When I was about 7 my understanding parents bought me a fascinating but spooky children's book, "The Golden Book of the Mysterious". I still have it. I never felt the need to dress in a gothic style however. I do look good in black, burgundy, dark blue, and purple though. Ha Ha!

I'm "goth" for lack of a better term, and I find this HILARIOUS. It's waaay over-the-top though.
I would never use blacklights to light a room. They emit too much UV light and would cause all my classic game consoles and vintage anime figures to all turn an ugly yellow (because of a chemical in the plastics). And too much UV light will make a person tan as well, so if one wants to stay fair skin/pale.. a bunch of Blacklights as room lighting is a bad idea!

Me and other "goths" sleep in a real bed/chair or couch most of the time, and don't always wear super heavy make up 24/7 Yes we DO sometimes dust and vacuum, with normal cleaning stuff (we try to get them in black, or purple or red...) not a huge ridable vacuum LOL
Natural cobwebs are nice though!
