O Come All Ye Faithful
The Westminster Abbey Choir Lyrics

Oh come ye, come ye to Bethlehem
Come and behold him born the King of angels
O come let us adore him Christ the Lord
God of God light of light
Lo he abhors not the virgin's womb
Very God begotten not created
Sing choirs of angels sing in exultation
Sing all ye citizens of heaven above
Glory to God in the highest
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord
See how the sheperds summoned to his cradle
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear
We too will thither hend our joyful footsteps
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord
Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning
Jesus, to thee be glory given
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord
The first stanza of this hymn is a call to all the faithful to come to Bethlehem and witness the birth of the King of Angels. It is a joyful and triumphant call to worship and adore Christ the Lord. The second stanza speaks to the divine nature of Christ, his being God of God and light of light. The hymn emphasizes that Jesus was not created but was rather begotten and that he was born to a virgin who he did not abhor. This stanza further calls for the faithful to adore Christ the Lord.
The third stanza is an invitation to sing in exultation along with the choirs of angels and all citizens of heaven above. All glory is given to God in the highest. This is a continuation of the call to worship and adoration of Christ the Lord. The final stanza talks about the shepherds summoned to the cradle, leaving their flocks to come witness the birth of Christ. The hymn ends with a declaration of adoration to Jesus, the word of the Father, who now appears in flesh.
