Throughout the band's history, members have regularly been replaced, with the only constant member being the band's founder, singer and guitarist Ginger. Several band members have appeared in the line-up more than once. The band has also been split up or placed on hiatus by Ginger multiple times. In the 2010s, the band convened occasionally for various anniversary tours. A 2018 anniversary tour by the band's 1995 lineup led to a return to the studio. They released a new album in 2019 after a ten-year hiatus. Their most recent album, 21st Century Love Songs, was released in September 2021.

Get Your Groove On
The Wildhearts Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They fight, take, start wars
Try to make you take the poison
Try to get some kind of reaction
You don't need this situation
Ignore this irritation
Get your groove on
Some will annoy you
And bore you as they do
Just stop, think, calm, walk
Rise above this aggravation
Do not give in to temptation
You don't need this situation
Ignore this irritation
Get your groove on
The lyrics to "Get Your Groove On" by The Wildhearts convey a message of empowerment and self-control in the face of negativity and external pressures. The song addresses the existence of evil and those who seek to disable and harm others. It recognizes the presence of individuals who thrive on conflict, starting wars, and causing discord. However, the lyrics encourage listeners to resist falling into the trap of engaging with such negativity.
The chorus, "Get your groove on," urges individuals to find their own inner rhythm and happiness amidst the chaos and annoyances of life. The song acknowledges that there will always be people who annoy and bore us, but it advises stopping, thinking, and remaining calm in order to rise above the aggravation. It discourages giving in to temptation and advises against getting caught up in unnecessary confrontations and irritations.

The message empowers individuals to prioritize their own groove, their own unique way of finding joy and fulfillment, despite the challenges that may arise.
