Devil Woman

Since the day I saw the cat at my door
So I came into you sweet lady
Answering your mystical call
Crystal ball on the table
Showing the future, the past
Same cat with them evil eyes
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you from behind
Give me the ring on your finger
Let me see the lines on your hand
I can see me a tall dark stranger
Giving you what you hadn't planned
I drank the potion she offered me
I found myself on the floor
Then I looked in those big green eyes
And I wondered what I'd come there for
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you from behind
Stay away, look out
If you're out on a moonlit night
Be careful of them neighborhood strays
Of a lady with long black hair
Tryin' to win you with her feminine ways
Crystal ball on the table
Showing the future, the past
Same cat with them evil eyes
You'd better get out of there fast
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
She's just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She's gonna get you
The Wolf Weiss Project's song Devil Woman is about a man who has experienced nothing but bad luck since he saw a cat at his door. He seeks the help of a crystal ball on the table where he meets a lady who casts a spell on him. The lady is referred to as a devil woman with evil on her mind and the man is warned to beware of her. She tries to win him over with her feminine ways and get him under her control by giving him a potion, but he finds himself on the floor after drinking it.
The man looks into the woman's big green eyes wondering why he is there and what he has gotten himself into. He is warned to stay away from her especially on a moonlit night when the neighborhood strays are out. The song implies that the woman has evil intentions and is not to be trusted. The lyrics are quite explicit in warning people about the danger of falling under the manipulative power of some women.
Devil Woman was released in 1976 and it became the biggest hit song for Cliff Richard in the UK. It was written by Terry Britten and Christine Holmes. The song has also been covered by various artists over the years including Elvis Presley, Hank Marvin, and Cradle of Filth.
