As Far As I Can See
The Zombies featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent Lyrics

From the distance coming
As far as I can see
From a blue horizon
That I keep my eyes on
And I search constantly
There's a safe house waiting
That I know is waiting
Some way down the line
And I can't quite see there
Though some day I'll be there
And I look for the sign
Let it shine
Only as far as I can see
The lyrics of "As Far As I Can See" by The Zombies featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent provide introspective and contemplative imagery. The song captures a sense of longing and anticipation, as the singer on a metaphorical journey awaits the arrival of a slow train. The opening lines, "There's a slow train coming, from the distance coming, as far as I can see," create a sense of distance and uncertainty. The train symbolizes a new change or opportunity in the singer's life, which they are eagerly watching for.
The second stanza introduces the concept of a blue horizon, which the singer keeps their eyes fixed upon. The blue horizon represents a distant potential future, a destination that the singer yearns for but has not yet reached. The line, "And I search constantly," hints at the singer's relentless pursuit of their aspirations and dreams.
The third stanza introduces the idea of a safe house waiting somewhere down the line. This safe house represents a place of refuge and comfort, where the singer will find solace and fulfillment. However, they cannot quite see or reach it yet. The line, "And I can't quite see there, though someday I'll be there, and I look for the sign," demonstrates the singer's faith and hope for the future, even though they are unable to perceive it clearly at present.
The repetition of the phrases, "Let it come," and "Let it shine," emphasizes the singer's desire for the arrival of the train and the unveiling of their desired destination. The final line, "Only as far as I can see," suggests that the singer's perspective is limited, and they can only imagine what lies ahead based on what they currently perceive.
Overall, "As Far As I Can See" explores themes of longing, hope, and the journey towards a desired future, all presented using poetic and metaphorical language.

This is the best live version, mainly because of the vocals. Instruments don't sound great (they're ok), but the vocals really make the song.
