Woolen Heirs
These Arms Are Snakes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

He, he sinks in the ground,
On these streets of 11th and Howell.
May he run down blocks and city halls,
To be drank by city folks and shivering crows, to make this right.
All the way down to the Sound!

You'll be a sound mite, and I'll be your roe.
And all of those blood types, become the sow.

He said he sold one leg,
To a mite on the corner of 11th and Howell.
So he could run down the throats,
Of any folks that he cared to choke,
In shivering clothes, to make this right.

You'll be a sound mite, and I'll be your roe.
And all of those blood types, become the sow.

Teeth jangling lie like lights supporting the whole thing.
They spit, drool slowly falls. Gelatin rain!

(For the second embrace!)
(Opening eyes erases all sound.)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Woolen Heirs" by These Arms Are Snakes tell a tale of desperation, violence, and sacrifice in the streets of a city. The singer is sinking into the ground, perhaps metaphorically or perhaps because of some physical ailment, and is willing to go to extreme measures to make things right. He runs down these streets and city halls, willing to be "drank by city folks" and "shivering crows" in order to achieve his goal.

The chorus of the song, "You'll be a sound mite, and I'll be your roe / And all of those blood types, become the sow," repeats and takes on different meanings throughout the song. It seems to suggest a predator-prey relationship, with the singer and someone else being the hunters and the rest of the world being their prey. The imagery of blood types becoming the sow suggests a world in which the powerful consume the weak, and everybody is united in their participation in a cycle of violence and death.

The final lines of the song, "Teeth jangling lie like lights supporting the whole thing / They spit, drool slowly falls. Gelatin rain! (For the second embrace!) (Opening eyes erases all sound.)" are cryptic and unclear. They suggest a violent act or ritual of some kind, with ominous imagery of jangling teeth, drool, and gelatin rain. The last line suggests a sense of peace or detachment, with the idea that opening one's eyes can erase all sound.

WCS Art and Design

They rehearsed down the hall from ARKADE at the Institution here in Sea... and when we'd take a break honestly we'd just stand outside their closed door sometimes and just kind of marvel at their compositions and sonic capacity. It was IMPRESSIVE.

Chris Common = badass drummer. miss this band, and others alike it. it's almost like the kids who grew up on Fugazi and Drive Like Jehu quit making music.

Chadwick Wright

Nope. We're still doing it.

It'd be awesome to see these guys
reform, even if it's only long enough to release a new album of their insane brand of goodness, and maybe tour in support of it? I
know that's asking a lot,but I'd
❤❤❤ to see them live.
