dissections retribution has a riff in the middle at 44:05 that sounds exactly like the opening riff of a song by classic guitarist Vennie moore called N.Y.Y, i think jon was influenced much by classic guitarists. cover is good, so is the album, thanks for the upload!

John Zwetsloot was the classical mastermind of Dissection, he wrote the 3 classical songs on The Somberlain and if I'm not mistaken wrote a lot of the acoustic parts on Storm of the Light's Bane... which may be why there was quite a shift in style on Reinkaos... Storm will always be top 10 on my all time list.

Just on time, let me say it this way: Streamers of OdiumNostrum! Could you please stop to compare every band with Deathspell Omega? If only for little me, it spoils not only all the genious music here. It begins to spoil DSO itself and obviously even OdiumNostrum. I can not get enough of this modern, dissonant kind of black metal, so most time on youtube i am here. Best wishes from the land of krauts!

I prefer my BM with more melody, like this, Selbst, and Mgla for instance. I would say that this band resembles little with DsO. Too much viscosity, and opaqueness in BM is boring, in my humble opinion.

Why so many 'DsO clones' and so few BAN or Aosoth clones? Are DsO just that much more popular? If anything, the angular, spastic sounding DsO stuff is harder to play than most of what you find in the other two. Is it perhaps that DsO blend in more easily, even at their spazzy best, with the many other 'orthodox black metal' bands out there, so cloning them doesn't seem quite so blatant as cloning the other two? (suggestions of Aosoth/BAN clones to listen to are most welcome. And I'm only really talking about 2010+ Aosoth and BAN's Odinist/TWWTG/MoRT/Sects kinda stuff, I guess)

I hear a lot more BAN in Aosoth than I do in DsO, especially with the Godfleshy/hip hopy/'tribal' drum stuff and the tremoloy bendy reverb soaked riffing. With the post-SMRC DsO I hear way more of an influence from more traditional 'evil' sounding BM, DM like Gorguts and math rock sorta shit.

I'm agree with you, in my humble opinion DSO are the Blut aus Nord sons, for me Vindsval was the first, and DSO took it with an evolution.

Most of this stuff is nowhere near the level of musicianship DsO operate at, so bares very little resemblance to begin with. It's just got to the point where anyone who drops a dissonant arpeggio is automatically aping them, whether they're actually good or not. I'm actually quite surprised a DsO/BAN split has never happened, because aside from them both being French, Vindsval has spoken highly of them before and they're quite honestly miles ahead of the pack, whilst having the bonus of sounding very different. One day, maybe.

Sorry Odium... I don't want to nag because you provide us with good stuff all the time but I think your upload-choices get too similar.
Sure it is your own taste and that is absolutely respectable but black metal has a lot more facets than these always similar slowmelodic-guitar+blastbeat-bands.

Beside Mgla there is also Infernal war, which is total destruction from beginning to end, beside Infernal war there is also Urfaust etc. there is so much great stuff around. I really appreciate that find these underground bands that I have often never heard of before but If I would put your last 20 upload in a playlist, I would hardly hear when one band ends and the other band starts.

I actually like how this channel is focused on specifics styles of black and black/death metal. There are many channels out there, so if I want something else I go there.
