When an old friend I just happened to see
I introduced her to my loved one
And while they were dancin'
My friend stole my sweetheart from me
I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
And I knew just how much I had lost
The night they were playing
The beautiful Tennessee Waltz
I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
And I knew just how much I had lost
I have lost my little darlin'
The night they were playing
The beautiful beautiful Tennessee Waltz
The Tennessee Waltz
The lyrics of Thom Bresh and Buster B. Jones's song Tennessee Waltz tell a story of heartbreak and betrayal that takes place during a dance to the titular waltz. The singer is dancing with their loved one when they encounter an old friend and introduce them to their partner. While they are dancing together, the friend steals the singer's sweetheart away from them. The singer is left alone, remembering that fateful night and the beauty of the Tennessee Waltz, but also the pain of losing their lover to someone they thought they could trust.
The lyrics are simple yet powerful, conveying a sense of sadness and longing through the imagery of the dance and the memory of the waltz. The use of past tense and the repetition of certain phrases gives the impression of someone remembering a painful experience and trying to come to terms with it. The melancholy tone of the music complements the lyrics well, creating a sense of nostalgia and regret.

@@cblong718 Thank you. He backed me when I played the steel guitar. We enjoyed playing Hawaiian music. Not great at it, but we really had fun doing what we do.

@@charlesgonterman9714 There's something about music that humans are naturally drawn to, isn't there? "Having fun" is what music is all about. As long as YOU and your band mates like it, that's all that matters.

"Guts 'n Steel.....not too fast, not too slow. Bresh and Buster had a a unique chemistry....the title tune is perhaps their finest duet in my humble little opinion.
