There was one time when fats wrote and performed a whole concert in piano with none of his popular funny songs because he wanted people to take him seriously as a musician. During the concert people were yelling at him to play his goof songs because that's what they knew and loved him for. His funny songs were what they wanted to hear.

People in ancient times did the same thing as well, people try to act like weed is some crazy new drug while it has been around from like the time humans discovered it and probably will be one of the last things left as the apocalypse looms people will have weed as a commodity. It is kind of beautiful how we are like the only reason why weed is a successful organism so maybe in the future things will evolve or we can modify plants to manufacture all kinds of drugs for medical purposes and maybe even try alien drugs as well. And also make a form of inhaled weed safe and also safe alternatives to nicotine such as an aerosol caffeine or something

Back then it was only in spots like ports . Malcom x talks about selling reefers to Louis Armstrong in the 30s in his biography, were they got it how much it cost everything. Just got bigger in "white culture "or whatever in the 50s with the beatniks then the hippys later on .

The last moment of the recording is missing from this post, where Fats stage-whispers the word, "Viper!" This recording is an outtake from the V-Disc session in 1943; his final recording date. The whole session shows an amazing day spent in the recording studio, with Fats singing playing both piano and Hammond organ, including several of the songs he composed for the the Broadway show, "Early to Bed."

This song was actually composed by Stuff Smith and first recorded in 1936. Rosetta Howard's version was recorded in 1937.

My father was a big-band piano player, and swore he only tried pot once! ha ha ha The lying old catfish. When you consider that Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and the majority of the rest of the celebrities of that era secretly smoked pot, it is mildly astounding how hardline they were about denying ever having used it decades later (Viet Nam war era).

Urban Dictionary refers to a "Viper" as a description of a young woman who smoked pot back in the 1930s. That descriptive phrase has been out of date for years, hence its little-known meaning.
