Their self-produced CD, ..Inside.., which made the nation listen up for the first time, saw the light of day in 1998. The 2000 units of the first edition sold out within a few weeks. ..Sick.., the opening track of their ..Inside.. album, was featured on a sampler released by the music magazine, VISIONS, in March 1999, constituting another milestone on the thorny path to the top. Following a number of small gigs in sticky clubs and various support shows (for King..s X and Farmer Boys, among others), the quartet were one of the few unsigned groups to play the VISIONS stage at the Bizarre festival in Cologne in summer 1999.
The big breakthrough arrived soon afterwards when SPV/Steamhammer signed the up-and-coming young act. Their self-titled debut album found a renowned producer in Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Stuck Mojo, Skinlab, among others) and arrived at the stores in August 2001. The result was a surprising record which was celebrated by the press, expressing Thorn.Eleven..s emotional diversity in eleven modern and driving rock songs. The video clip to accompany the first single ..Simple Things.. was featured on national TV several times a day. Numerous TV appearances, festivals and tours through Britain with Earthtone9 and through Germany, Austria and Switzerland alongside Thumb followed.
The next album ..A Different View.. succeeds in topping their impressive debut, proving that the long sabbatical during which the band went through an acute song-writing process has definitely been worth its while. The quartet sound even more mature and their songs are even more thought-out and intricately composed, without losing any of their emotional intensity. ..A Different View.. was recorded at the Oral Majority studios in Gøteborg, Sweden, with Roberto Laghi (B-Thong, Mustasch, Hardcore Superstar, Eleven Pictures, among others) at the controls. Laghi was instrumental in developing Thorn.Eleven..s talent to the full. This time around, the bass sounds even more powerful and the drums sound even more driving, the guitars more dynamic, the vocals more versatile. There can be no doubt: these guys have put a seductively sparkling gem on the market with their new album, proving again that Thorn.Eleven..s music is definitely pure emotion.
Simple Things
Thorn.Eleven Lyrics

here i run, a shadow by my side
from open wounds i'm bleeding
in agony i scream
do you see me bleeding
and can you hear me scream
open fire is licking at my feet
it's all desire, this calm is killing me
through open air i'm falling
in agony i scream
do you see me crawling
and can you hear me scream
The lyrics of "Simple Things" by Thorn.Eleven are somewhat cryptic, but you can tell that they are exploring difficult emotions. The first two lines suggest that the singer is lonely or feeling disconnected from the world. The warm breeze is a metaphor for something desirable, but the shadow suggests that there is something negative following them. The next two lines suggest that the singer is in pain or suffering in some way. They may be bleeding from open wounds, and they are screaming in agony. The question "do you see me bleeding and can you hear me scream?" adds to the sense of invisibility and isolation that the singer feels. They are crying out for someone to notice them and help them.
The next stanza takes on a different tone. The open fire may be a literal threat, or it might be a metaphor for a situation that is causing the singer to feel intense desire. Either way, the calm that they feel is actually causing them pain. The line "through open air I'm falling" suggests that they are losing control or falling apart. Once again, they scream in agony and ask if anyone can see them crawling. This line suggests that they are struggling to move forward or accomplish something that is important to them. Throughout the song, the singer is searching for something that will help them feel better. They miss the simple things in life that might bring them comfort, but they are also grappling with complex emotions that won't be easily resolved.

That song would have been perfect for the credit roll of Dead Rising 2...
