Struggle
Thought Riot Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Watch as illusions' fade, revealing disaster impending.
Has hope succumbed to such frailty?
I feel the return that familiar void, like an old close friend.
Revelation that all has been lies.
Now I understand why truth died.

What do you do when no truth stands to comfort you?
Close your eyes?
Shut your ears?
Cover your mouth?
Fight back the tears?
No!

Try to stand on your own; I'll help you.
We'll stand together.
Try to stand on your own; I'll help you.
We'll see it through, make it through.

Won't give up the fight, won't just sit back.
Won't give up the fight, won't just sit back in despair.

I'm reaching out for something, someone, something.
There's no one there.
I'm reaching out for something, someone, something, someone.

Will you be there? Please be there.
I'll be there.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in the song "Struggle" by Thought Riot provide a strong message of hope and perseverance during difficult times. The first verse paints a picture of disillusionment and despair - the illusions that once brought comfort have faded, revealing a looming disaster. The singer questions if hope has become too fragile to hold onto. They feel a familiar void creeping in, almost as if it has become a close friend. However, as the truth becomes apparent, so does the need for resilience and determination.

The second verse asks a poignant question - what can you do when there is no truth left to comfort you? The singer goes on to reject the notion of giving in to despair and instead calls for action. They urge the listener to stand on their own two feet, and offer a helping hand. The chorus repeats the message of perseverance, that they won't give up the fight and will work to see it through. The song closes on a hopeful note, with the singer reaching out for something or someone, hoping for support. They call out for someone to be there, and reassure that they themselves will be there for the listener.

Overall, the song provides an uplifting message of solidarity and strength during tumultuous times. It acknowledges the pain and fear that comes with facing difficult truths, but ultimately calls for resilience and perseverance.
