Before the band had played a single live show, their home recordings generated significant interest online. The song Rational Eyes hit #1 on the international independent music website GarageBand.com and to this day remains in the top 5. This prompted many record labels to take notice, one label in particular fit perfectly with the band’s vision, and in 2005 THREAT SIGNAL inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
THREAT SIGNAL’s debut album Under Reprisal was recorded with producer Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory / Arkaea). “It’s without a doubt my favorite album of 2006,” Wolbers remarks. “A mix of Strapping Young Lad, Fear Factory, Soilwork… a true Canadian phenomenon!” Veteran mixer Tue Madsen added the final touches to the album and it was released internationally in August 2006. Embraced by fans and critics, although perhaps the most meaningful praise for the album came in the form of the Canadian Recording of the Year award bestowed upon the band in their hometown at the 2006 Hamilton Music Awards.
After supporting Under Reprisal on the road for over 2 years, THREAT SIGNAL entered the studio in November 2008. They recorded their second album Vigilance with the band’s singer Jon Howard taking over production duties. “Vigilance takes every element from Under Reprisal and pushes it to the next level,” explains Howard. “I’m completely ecstatic how far the band has progressed, and I couldn’t be more proud of the new record.” Fellow Canadian Greg Reely was chosen to mix and master the album, and it was released through Nuclear Blast Records on September 8th 2009, Now Available in stores and online at www.threatsignal.com.

Threat Signal Lyrics

Accept what you see, believe what your told
Free space! Free choice! Find a reason to use your voice!
Acknowledge the guilty, they plan to run the world
Absolute power corrupts, absolutely!
I will not conform!
We're terrified to know the answers
We're all convinced to think that we all know what this life holds
I resist!
You walk into lies, the world as we know it destroyed inside
Resist, fight back! We must reclaim the faith we hide!
Acknowledge the wealthy, they plan to ruin the world
Absolute power corrupts, absolutely
I will not conform!
We're terrified to know the answers
We're all convinced to think that we all know what this life holds
I resist!
We must speak the truth of the world
There's more than life than what we're told
Free space! Free choice! Find a reason to use your voice!
I will not conform!
We're terrified to know the answers
We're all convinced to think that we all know what this life holds
The lyrics of "Resistance" by Threat Signal touch on themes of societal control, conformity, and the fight for individual freedom. The first verse warns against being controlled and manipulated, urging the listener to think critically and find their voice. The second verse speaks to the corrupting influence of power, and the need to resist those who seek to control or ruin the world. The chorus repeatedly asserts the singer's refusal to conform, and their determination to resist the status quo.
The bridge of the song speaks to the fear and uncertainty that often accompany efforts to break free from societal norms or expectations. The final verse encourages listeners to seek out the truth and speak out against lies and deception. The song ends with another declaration of non-conformity and resistance.
Throughout the lyrics, it's clear that the singer is urging listeners to question the world around them and assert their individuality. The language used is forceful and passionate, calling for action rather than passive acceptance. The song highlights the importance of resisting negative influences and working to create a better world.
