Moondragon
Thumlock Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The magic beings no longer be
We believe their words until
We get high enough to see
Dragon keeps circling the moon
The person in her world is me
If she knows she's being watched
Moondragon
Moondragon
Moondragon
Moondragon
Keeper of the golden moon
Her age old eyes will catch me soon
I'm on her side and wish no harm
Her life is free, her envied calm
Moondragon sees our world
Watches lunar craft come near
Visitors can come and go
She guards her moon without any fear
Moondragon
Moondragon
Moondragon
Moondragon
The first verse of Thumlock's song Moondragon talks about how society perceives the world to be devoid of magic and inhabited solely by humans. However, the singer realizes the falsehood of that statement only when he ascends higher, possibly through a consumption of a psychedelic substance or a metaphysical enlightenment. It's when he is in an elevated state that he notices that there's a dragon that circles around the moon - a creature so magical that it discredits the belief that humans are the only living beings in existence. He belongs in her world and if she notices his presence, she'll vanish, disappearing from his sight once again.
The chorus "Moondragon" repeats itself throughout the song - probably representing the fixation and reverence the singer has for the creature. The second verse delves deeper into the relationship between the dragon and the singer. The dragon seems to have some sort of protective custody over the moon and portrays an unmoved and free-spirited existence, a life that is enviable. The singer is on her side and wishes no harm, and the dragon reciprocates the kindness by keeping a watch over his world as well. The final lyrics of the song hint at the fact that the singer being an earthbound visitor, watches and leaves, while the dragon guards and stays with the moon.
