Illusion
Ti.Pi.Cal. feat. Josh Lyrics

I've been told 'bout living like a star
Hotel rich champagne and caviar
But no one ever showed me the reverse
And it really hurts
Baby it really hurts
It's the price you pay for rock and roll
And no one understands it, how you feel
For it's so unreal
Oh it's so unreal
Baby don't you cry for me
It's an illusion, just an illusion
I thought I knew what life should be
It's an illusion.. Just an illusion
When critics crucify your latest show
Another drink and then you loose control
But then on stage I feel a fire burn
There is no return
I'm always on the run
I give it to you babe with all my heart
For it's not too late, no it's not too late
The song "Illusion" is about the disillusionment that comes with fame and fortune in the music industry. The lyrics portray the glamour and glory of stardom, but also highlight the toll it takes on those who live it. The first verse talks about how the singer has been told about the luxurious lifestyle that comes with fame, but nobody warned him about the flip side. He is hurt by the false promises that the industry has made him. In the second verse, the singer describes how the price of success is high, and it takes a toll on oneβs body and soul. No one can truly understand the pressure that comes with being a star; it's superficial and surreal.
However, in the chorus, the singer consoles himself and his listeners, telling them not to cry. Itβs all an illusion; a mirage that seems so real, but in reality, itβs all just a dream. The third verse speaks to critics, who can make or break a career with their opinions. The singer confesses to the overwhelming emotions that come with having all the attention focused on you, and how it can lead to uncontrolled behavior. But despite all of these challenges, the singer feels a fire within himself when performing on stage, and that's what keeps him going. The song comes full circle in the end, with the singer vowing to give his all to his audiences with his heart still intact.
