and this would later determine his choice of singing and writing in English.
Despite having no musical background in his family, Tiago started playing the acoustic guitar at age 8.
In 2007 his unpretentious acoustic single 'Nothing but a Song' drew attention to
his voice and led to the release of his debut album Let Yourself In, which gained notoriety after several of Tiago's songs were featured on major Brazilian primetime soap operas, TV ads and films. Tiago soon started touring across the country and in 2009 was Jason Mraz's Brazilian Tour opening act.
Let Yourself In was also released in Japan, where 'Nothing But a Song' peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Japan HOT 100 Chart, and in South Korea, where the public granted Tiago a Best Foreign Artist Award for his performance at the 2010 Grand Mint Festival. Another single — 'Fine' — featured on the popular South Korean TV series Personal Taste.
His second studio album Umbilical — which had New York-based Andy Chase as producer — was simultaneously released in Brazil, South Korea and Portugal on October 2011. Digital releases in the United States and Japan followed shortly after.
The Umbilical Tour had it's debut on March 14th at the 2012 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and included performances in Portugal and over 20 sold out dates in Brazil.
What Weighs Me Down

What weighs me down?
Barely breathing, losing sense of meaning
What weighs me down? What weighs me down?
What weighs me down?
Aspire, there's so much to live for
Aspire, there's so much to live for
Inspire, there's so much to give
Undergoing, never really knowing what
Weighs me down
Undergoing, never really knowing what
Weighs me down what weighs me down
What weighs me down, down
Aspire, inspire… aspire, inspire
Aspire, inspire
Aspire, there's so much to live for
Inspire, there's so much to give
The lyrics of Tiago Iorc's song "What Weighs Me Down" delve deep into the turmoil and introspection of the inner self. The opening lines, "Wired, tired all so uninspired, What weighs me down?" paint a picture of a person feeling drained and lacking motivation. The repetition of the question "What weighs me down?" reflects a sense of burden and the weight of emotional strain that the individual is experiencing. The feeling of being uninspired and struggling to find purpose is a common theme that many can relate to, capturing the essence of mental health struggles and existential questioning.
The following lines, "Barely breathing, losing sense of meaning, What weighs me down? What weighs me down? What weighs me down?" deepen the sense of despair and inner turmoil. The mention of barely breathing and losing sense of meaning conveys a sense of suffocation and confusion about one's purpose in life. The repetition of the question "What weighs me down?" emphasizes the intensity of the emotional burden that the individual is grappling with, highlighting the overwhelming nature of their inner struggles.
The lyrics then shift towards a sense of hope and resilience with the lines, "Aspire, there's so much to live for, Inspire, there's so much to give." These words serve as a reminder that despite the hardships and challenges that one may face, there is still a wealth of opportunities and positivity in life. The call to aspire and inspire speaks to the importance of finding motivation and purpose in order to overcome the obstacles that weigh the individual down. It conveys a message of empowerment and the potential for growth and fulfillment.
The repetition of the phrases "Aspire, inspire" and "Aspire, there's so much to live for, Inspire, there's so much to give" serves as a mantra of encouragement and optimism. It encourages the listener to look beyond their current struggles and to focus on the possibilities that lie ahead. The juxtaposition of the darkness and light in the lyrics reflects the journey of self-discovery and transformation, ultimately conveying a message of hope, resilience, and the power of aspiring and inspiring others.

Apenas Para Você Saber
Te acomodar pra domir, aconchegar seus pés
Dar o que você precisa
Apenas para você saber
Pronto para começar a beijar cada parte sua
Apenas para você saber
Estou dando algo verdadeiro
Dando algo que possa crer
Você me ensinou a ver o meu melhor, quem eu sou
Apenas para você saber
Você é tão perfeita, que nunca estarei muito longe de você
Apenas para você saber
Estou dando algo verdadeiro
Estou dando algo verdadeiro
Estou dando algo
Estou dando algo verdadeiro
Dando algo verdadeiro
Dando algo, agarre-o

Esse álbum é, e sempre será, o meu favorito do Tiago. Essa, assim como Just Só You Know, Patron e Gave Me A Name, são canções que mexem muito comigo. Introspectivo e visceral, tudo junto e muito bem misturado. Amo. Amo demais. Gratidão.

@Daniel perfeito.
