They talk behind your back, then smack to face
Now woah, but I don't pay attention
I don't even mention no niggas, bitches damn
I'll be out the way before they catch me slippin'
'Cause if you're not telling secrets
Why the cops show at my little cousin's house
Two years, haven't seen him, haven't seen him
Every night before I go to bed I pray to Jesus
And I say to him
Tell me something I don't know already, already
About these niggas
I bet you say anything, now tell me
Tell me something I don't know already, already
About these bitches
Oh they can be so funny
But I don't pay the money, no I don't pay no mind
'Cause oh oh oh, that don't need me before I need them
No one can take this smile away from my face
Can't take my joy
I'll get over it, you know I will but
If you're not telling secrets
How come she knows that I been fucking with him
But he's in love with her
I don't hear a word, now somebody
Tell me something I don't know already, already
About these niggas
I bet you say anything, now tell me
Tell me something I don't know already, already
About these bitches
Oh they can be so funny
Never let these bitches catch me slipping
They be on a mission
These bitches is itching for the stitches
Never let no nigga break me down
Never break me down, never break me down
Hey, no
Never let these bitches catch me slipping
They be on a mission
These bitches is itching for the stitches
Never let no nigga break me down
Never break me down, never break me down
Hey, no
Tell me something I don't know already, already
About these niggas
I bet you say anything, now tell me
Tell me something I don't know already, already
About these bitches
Oh they can be so funny
Tiara Thomas's song "Tell Me Something" is a powerful anthem about the betrayal and dishonesty that can exist in relationships. The opening lyrics set the tone of the song, with Thomas lamenting the fact that trust is difficult to come by these days, as people talk behind each other's backs and then act friendly in person. She expresses a sense of detachment from this kind of behavior, saying that she doesn't give attention to those who would betray her, and that she will be out of the way to avoid being caught off-guard. This sets up the central question of the song: "if you're not telling secrets, why the cops show at my little cousin's house?"
Thomas uses this anecdote to highlight the way that people can be hypocritical in their judgments of others, pretending to be friendly while secretly disapproving of their behavior. She confronts this dishonesty head-on, demanding that people tell her something she doesn't already know about "these niggas" and "these bitches". The chorus repeats this refrain, as Thomas insists that she won't be broken down by the deceitful acts of others. The final lines of the song emphasize the importance of staying vigilant, as Thomas says that she will never let these bitches catch her slipping and will never break down, no matter what happens.
Overall, "Tell Me Something" is a powerful song about the importance of trust and honesty in relationships. Thomas's lyrics are unflinching in their portrayal of the ways that people can hurt each other, but also optimistic in their message of resilience and self-reliance. The song is a testament to the ability of music to capture the complexities of human relationships, and to provide a space for people to process their experiences and emotions.
