Killer
Tiger and Dragon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You've committed no crime
You'll just find out you are one of a kind
And pieces from a cracked mirror
How much time has passed
Tell me what do I look like
Wild ghosts come out to dance
Mad men find their assurance
The people start to run
Oh killer
Oh children
Don't worry about anything
Trains come to pick you up and take you away
And can you change to fit into our world
Remember don't love to fast
And there's no one you can trust
Wild ghosts come out to dance
Mad men find their assurance
They skip and jump so happily
The people start to run
Oh killer
The lyrics to Tiger and Dragon's song "Killer" evoke a sense of duality and self-discovery. The opening line, "Oh killer, you've committed no crime," suggests that the singer feels like an outsider or a misfit. However, they will soon learn that they possess unique qualities that set them apart from others. The reference to "pieces from a cracked mirror" symbolizes a fragmented sense of self and the passage of time.
As the song progresses, the singer questions their own identity, asking, "Tell me what do I look like?" This reflects a search for self-understanding and acceptance. The line "wild ghosts come out to dance" suggests that unconventional or unconventional aspects of one's personality may emerge when they embrace their true selves.
The mention of "mad men find their assurance" implies that even those who are considered abnormal by society can find a sense of belonging and confidence. However, this newfound acceptance comes at a cost as "the people start to run." This could indicate that conformity and societal norms can be suffocating and cause others to distance themselves from those who are different.
The chorus, which repeats the lines "Oh killer" and "Oh children," could be interpreted as a reminder to both the singer and the listener to not worry about conformity or societal expectations. The mention of trains coming to "pick you up and take you away" suggests the possibility of escape or finding a new path in life.
Overall, "Killer" explores themes of self-discovery, accepting one's unique qualities, the price of conformity, and the search for belonging.

I discovered this film in 2008 and watched it on my birthday. What fun did I have watching this film. From the first fight scene with Tiger I wondered if I was dreaming or not. The intensity of the action scenes is unheard of. It's intense, inventive, beautiful, pure, intelligent, funny (the two little girls intrigued by Turbo's scar, the little boy who breathes with his stomach...). And what about Donnie Yen's physique, his incredible physical condition, his creativity? The villain is also very successful (what a great idea to prove his power by showing what he uses as a punching bag).
But the real reason why this film is unforgettable for me is that it provoked the most beautiful tears I have shed in front of a cinematographic work. In general, when we shed tears in front of a film, sadness is always among the causes. Even when the scene is beautiful, sadness is always nearby. Dragon Tiger Gate made me cry because of a single scene from which grace (thank you JoannBellman), elegance, originality, mysticism (with the symbols we see there) emerged, an expression of energetic explosiveness and powerful beauty. This scene which lasts 1s is Tiger's pose which we see at 1:12:14. The wind that moves the hair of Tiger, motionless in this wonderful posture. All of this is very beautiful and expresses a form of explosive power that completely surprised me. Crying in front of a beautiful scene (like at the end of Best of the Best 1) is good, but crying in front of a scene of beauty, of grace... it's much better, I think.
I watched this film on January 15, 2008 (I was 28 years old), I cried the best tears of my life (I think) and a few months later, 2008 became the worst year of my life. It's as if Heaven had sent me this gift to help me cope with what awaited me. I would be eternally grateful to It because this gift helped me (and continues to help me) to bear the shocks of my hellish life which will end (God willing) in the next two or three months.
The film has flaws in the writing but Dragon Tiger Gate will always hold the place it has in my heart and soul. Thank you Divine Providence for this film.

This movie is so underrated. It’s simply one of Donnie’s best and it’s amazing almost every character is memorable with just a handful of lines and scenes. Can never get tired of watching it. Great action and a simple story with really touching moments.

This movie is a remarkable testimony to the rich history of martial arts film. The fighting scenes are a visual feast, balancing grace, technique, and intensity just so. You can only look on in complete wonder as each strike, kick, and leap is executed with such finesse and skill. But the storyline is what really makes this movie stand out. It leads you on a quest for justice, a voyage of brotherhood, and loyalty. The characters are strong, and their connections and tribulations give the encounter depth and emotional resonance. You become emotionally invested in their journeys and support them at every turn.

I would love to see a tv show based on the dragon tiger gate. I haven't read the manhua but I imagine that there are a lot of storylines they can explore. It would be good to have a show to further explore the lore.
