Kutipan diatas adalah salah satu bentuk dari berbagai ekspresi pada lagu-lagu “KARTIKA JAHJA” atau cukup dipanggil dengan “TIKA”.
Berawal dari hobby menyanyi dari semasa kecil, TIKA tidak pernah menyadari kalau bakat menyanyi didukung dengan karakter suara yang unik terdapat didalam dirinya. Semakin beranjak dewasa, TIKA pun semakin sering diminta untuk menyanyi didepan saudara-saudaranya hingga acara-acara sekolah. Semasa SMA, dia pun membentuk band dengan teman-teman sekolahnya tetapi sebagaimana umumnya band SMA, tidak bertahan lama karena perbedaan pandangan. TIKA pun mulai menyanyi kembali untuk memperbanyak pengalaman serta semakin mengasah bakatnya itu.
Pada bulan Desember tahun 1999, TIKA meneruskan studinya ke Seattle, U.S.A dan disanalah TIKA bertemu dan berkenalan dengan cukup banyak musisi-musisi Seattle maupun mahasiswa Indonesia yang mempunyai hobby musik juga serta mulai membentuk band kembali. Di Seattle itu pulalah TIKA berkenalan dengan AGHI NAROTTAMA, mahasiswa Indonesia yang sedang belajar di art institute of Seattle jurusan audio production (dan akan menjadi produser serta sound engineer untuk album TIKA).
Pada tahun 2003, TIKA kembali ke Jakarta untuk sesuatu urusan dan cukup lama berada di Jakarta. Pada saat ini juga TIKA banyak berkenalan dengan musisi-musisi lokal dan TIKA pun mulai kembali membantu mengisi vocal dibeberapa band untuk rekaman maupun acara panggung. Saat ini juga dia mulai berteman sangat akrab dengan personil-personil band LAIN yang saat itu juga baru meluncurkan album perdananya di Jakarta dan AGHI adalah salah seorang personilnya.
Baru pada tahun 2005, dengan dukungan orang tua dan teman-temannya, TIKA memulai proyek solo album perdananya yang di produseri oleh “ROOFTOP SOUND”, perusahaan audio production yang didirikan oleh AGHI dan teamnya yang juga sesama musisi dan personil dari band LAIN yaitu IMAN FATTAH & BEMBY GUSTI. Proses pembuatan materi lagu, rekaman, mixing dan mastering semuanya dilakukan di studio ROOFTOP SOUND yang terletak di studio PENDULUM yang telah melahirkan album kompilasi “J.K.T.S.K.R.G”. Dalam proses rekaman, mixing dan mastering dilakukan oleh AGHI sebagai sound engineer, sedangkan materi lagu merupakan hasil kerja bersama-sama dari TIKA, AGHI, IMAN, BEMBY & AGE AIRLANGGA, dan untuk lirik semua ditulis oleh TIKA.
Dengan ini, Kami dari ROOFTOP SOUND memberikan satu lagu dari album TIKA yang akan dirilis sekitar bulan Mei 2005.
2. TIKA is a Dutch band project featuring Marien Dorleijn (frontman of Moss) and David Pino (frontman of El Pino and the Volunteers). They travelled to Canada together and recorded an album with the help of local studio musicians. The second line, "Teachers and strippers alike... Realize we're one and the same" is a powerful message that the system does not distinguish between professions - both strippers and teachers can be exploited and need to come together to fight for their basic human rights.
The pre-chorus, "Hear us go oi oi oi oi oi oi oi oi labours of the world unite / Sisters Don't be scared... Officer come joing the parade / Sever their vein today... We don't crawl under their feet" is a call to action for workers and allies to unite and stand up against oppressive systems.
