I've had questions
Tim Hughes Lyrics

I've known sorrow, I have known pain
But there's one thing, that I'll cling to
You are faithful, Jesus You're true
When hope is lost, I'll call You Saviour
When pain surrounds, I'll call You Healer
When silence falls, You'll be the song within my heart
In the lone hour, of my sorrow
Through the darkest night of my soul
You surround me, and sustain me
My defender, forever more
When hope is lost, I'll call You Saviour
When pain surrounds, I'll call You Healer
When silence falls, You'll be the song within my heart
I will praise You, I will praise You
When the tears fall, still I will sing to You
I will praise You, Jesus praise You
Through the suffering still I will sing
When hope is lost, I'll call You Saviour
When pain surrounds, I'll call You Healer
When silence falls, You'll be the song within my heart
I've had questions, without answers
I've known sorrow, I have known pain
But there's one thing, that I'll cling to
You are faithful, Jesus You're true
When hope is lost, I'll call You Saviour
When pain surrounds, I'll call You Healer
When silence falls, You'll be the song within my heart
I will praise You, I will praise You
When the tears fall, still I will sing to You
I will praise You, Jesus praise You
Through the suffering still I will sing X2
When hope is lost, I'll call You Saviour
When pain surrounds, I'll call You Healer
When silence falls, You'll be the song within my heart
The lyrics of Tim Hughes's song "I've Had Questions" express a deep sense of vulnerability and faith in the midst of life's struggles. The singer acknowledges that they have faced unanswered questions, sorrow, and pain, but they find solace in the belief that Jesus is faithful and true. This repeated acknowledgment of the singer's hardships sets the tone for a message of finding strength and comfort in their faith.
The chorus highlights the singer's reliance on Jesus in times of need. They call on Him as their Savior when hope seems lost, as their Healer when pain surrounds them, and as the source of a song in moments of silence and despair. This demonstrates a profound trust in Jesus as a source of comfort and salvation in times of difficulty and darkness.
The lyrics also speak to the singer's experience of feeling alone and sorrowful. In the midst of their darkest moments, they find assurance in the presence of Jesus surrounding them, sustaining them, and defending them. This imagery of Jesus as a constant protector and support system conveys a message of enduring hope and security even in the face of suffering.
The closing verses emphasize the singer's commitment to praising Jesus regardless of their circumstances. They declare their intention to sing praises to Him even when tears are falling and suffering persists. This unwavering devotion to offering praise and worship to Jesus in all seasons of life underscores the message of finding strength and resilience through faith in Him. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the message of turning to Jesus as the ultimate source of hope, healing, and comfort in times of need.
