Timber Timbre Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All I need is some sunshine
All I need
All I need is some sunshine
All I need

The siren called beyond the treeline
With another one for the caves
And in the tarn beyond those birches
Is a spirit that I crave

And from the island people watched you
You set that viking ship ablaze
We reached the moon falls icy cauldron
And found the spirit that I crave

All I need is some sunshine
All I need
All I need is some sunshine
All I need

You've fallen barefoot past the treeline
Peeping boned-eyed, birches sway
And a thousand whitefish floating belly up
In the spirit that I crave

And we threw ourselves right into it
Where lay the bodies had been claimed
We dove a third, a fourth, a fifth
Banned to the spirit that I crave

All I need is some sunshine
All I need
All I need is some sunshine
All I need

I found empathy from madness
Deliverance from malaise
My heart is filled with gladness
And you're the only spirit that I crave

All I need is some sunshine
All I need
All I need is some sunshine
All I need

Black Water (pull me down)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Timber Timbre's song "Black Water" are open to interpretation but seem to be conveying a sense of desire and desperation. The repetition of "All I need is some sunshine" could be seen as a plea for hope or relief, while the imagery in the verses paints a picture of a mysterious and ominous natural setting. The siren's call beyond the treeline and the whitefish floating belly up suggest an eerie and eerie environment, while the idea of finding "empathy from madness" could be interpreted as a search for a connection or understanding amidst turmoil. The repetition of "Black Water (pull me down)" at the end of the song creates a somber and haunting feeling, perhaps representing a surrender to the overwhelming forces of the world around us.

All I need is some sunshine
All I need...
All I need is some sunshine
All I need...

The siren called beyond the treeline
With another one for the caves
And in the tarn beyond those birches
There's a spirit that I crave

And from the island people watched you
You set that viking shiver place
We reached the moon falls, I see cauldron
And found the spirit that I crave

All I need is some sunshine
All I need...
All I need is some sunshine
All I need...

You've fallen barefoot past the treeline
Beaten, boned-eyed, butchered, swayed
A thousand whitefish floating belly up
In the spirit that I crave

And we threw ourselves right into it
Where lay the bodies had been claimed
We dove a third out for the fifth
Banned to the spirit that I crave

All I need is some sunshine
All I need...
All I need is some sunshine
All I need...

I found empathy from madness
Deliverance from malaise
My heart is filled with gladness
At the only spirit that I crave

All I need is some sunshine
All I need...
All I need is some sunshine
All I need...

Black water, black water
Black water, black water

There is a death in the middle of the B-52’s Rock Lobster:

“Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam”

The song goes on in an up beat fashion and the victim is forgotten about while everyone on the beach enjoys the sun in their tanning butter. I like to think this video is a rescue mission for the forgotten diver’s remains in Rock Lobster.

Rest In Peace

I listen to this song probably once a day. It is so macabre, but I can't get the "I found empathy from madness, deliverance from Malaise" out of my head... This song is utter perfection!

"I found empathy from madness
Deliverance from malaise
My heart is filled with glaaadneeess
At the only spirit that I crave"

Fontaine Manon

this song expresses almost perfectly the feeling of weariness and sloth that only good H can provide....like Velvet underground's Venus in furs and The Fall's Hip priest. Undeniably one of the best songs

Carter

Goosebumps through the whole song. This song was with me through some rough times.

Sophi Witherspoon

Who needs sunshine when you've got darkness as beautiful as this?

Christina O'Connor

That was the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.
