Terminus
Time The Valuator Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
There will be nothing left to save
Step by step
This delusion will mark the end
We are the victim
We are the perpetrator
Deep in the shadows we hide from our lies
What will become of the next generations?
Ease me into the nightmare you designed
Show me how to live in a world of misery
With your hands in the dirt
You will find your hurt
Dust and ash
Leftovers of your passion
All laid to rest
Trophies of another time
Begin to reconstruct
Redesign our poisoned minds
Deep beneath the surface
Lies our darkest secret
Take me back to where I came from
Open up the ground beneath my feet
Take me back to where I came from
Please take me back, mother earth
The first stanza of Time The Valuator's "Terminus" speaks to a sense of ultimate destruction, with the earth metaphorically shaking and nothing left to save. The lyrics suggest a slow and steady progression towards this annihilation, with the delusion of society serving as the marker for the end. The second stanza explores the duality of humanity as both victims and perpetrators, with our lies hidden in the shadows. The looming question of what will happen to future generations is also present.
Moving into the third stanza, the lyrics take a more introspective turn, with an emphasis on personal suffering and a desire for guidance in a world of misery. The fourth stanza returns to the themes of destruction and reconstruction, using the image of hands in the dirt and ash, trophies of the past, and poisoned minds. The last stanza brings the focus back to the Earth as our home and a plea to return to it.

That bit at 2:20 was so delightfully unexpected. Not just with how quick it slips into the heavy chug riffs but also the vocal delivery. I haven't been a TTV fan for that long but nothing I've listened to so far has anything like that. Heavy & prog Hands Like Houses, sure, but not... I don't want to call that rapping, but I don't know what else to call it either.

Even though it was a little processed, that reverbed high at 2:30 was a great transition.

Every time I hit that part I just start laughing hysterically because of how heavy that part hits. Like each time I know it's coming and it still shocks me anyway. On that first listen though, I was so surprised how quick it changed.

@Adam McCann I literally had the same reaction I was happy and laughing about it while driving
