Timmy T started out in the 80's in small rap groups in Fresno, but felt that he would rather do dance music. He purchased a Moog synthesizer and a Roland TR-808 drum machine at a pawn shop, and recorded his first single, "Time After Time", in his garage. He delivered copies to a Fresno radio station and asked them to play his single. After the DJ played the song, there were many calls requesting who that was. The DJ recommended to Timmy T to take his record to radio stations in Los Angeles for more exposure. After Los Angeles pop station Power 106 played the record, Timmy got a record deal with Quality Records and released another single, "One More Try", which proved to be much more successful than his first single, climbing its way to the top of the Billboard charts.
Although Freestyle music has been a mainstay of New York and Miami, Timmy T was one of the most successful Freestyle artists to come from California.
He recorded his first album, "Time After Time", featuring the title track (his first single), "One More Try", and "What Will I Do." He followed up with "All For Love."
Timmy T has toured all over the world and performed on various TV shows through the early 90's. Following a financially draining divorce, having to raise his children, and the decline of Freestyle's popularity in general, Timmy fell out of the public eye. Nowadays, Timmy tours with other Freestyle acts such as The Cover Girls, Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, and others on the club circuit. His music still garners heavy rotation on Freestyle playlists.
Timmy T is not related to fellow Freestyle singer Judy Torres.

All this fighting′s really just a show
We put on behind doors that everyone knows aren't closed.
And all these eyes are watching in the dark
Put in black wholes in the stars
We used to think were ours until they fell apart.
Right now they seem so far.
But all I know
Is the way you hold my heart,
But all that shows
Is the way we fall apart
To the world I hate.
You are the one I love.
They′ll say what they'll say,
But they'll never say enough.
I′ll sing it more than once
That you are the one I love.
After all of the things we′ve said and done
You are the one I love.
There are couples, couples everywhere.
Oh, why, oh, why does everyone care?
It's hard to be me and you when all that everyone does is stare
Oh, all that they do is stare.
But all I know
Is the way you hold my heart,
But all that shows
Is the way we fall apart
To the world I hate.
You are the one I love.
They′ll say what they'll say,
They′ll never say enough.
Why can't we hide away?
All that I need′s your faith
To remind me that I feel this way.
All I know
Is the way you hold my heart,
But all that shows
Is the way we fall apart
To the world I hate.
You are the one I love.
They'll say what they'll say,
They′ll never say enough.
And to the world I hate
You are the one I love.
They′ll say what they'll say,
They′ll never say enough
I'll sing it more than once
But you are the one I love,
And you are the one I love
The lyrics to Timmy T's song "You're The One That I Love" depict a complicated relationship filled with conflict, but also an undeniable love between two people. The first verse suggests that despite their fighting and disagreements, they are aware that their relationship is not a secret and that others are aware of their problems. They feel like everyone's eyes are watching them in the dark, symbolizing the judgment and scrutiny they face from others.
The chorus reflects the singer's feelings towards their partner. They acknowledge that the world may hate them or have negative opinions about their relationship, but the person they love is the one who holds their heart. The mention of falling apart suggests that their relationship is strained or on the verge of ending, yet the love they have for each other still remains strong. However, they also express frustration with the constant judgment and criticism they face from others. Despite this, their love for one another is unwavering.
The second verse continues to highlight the struggles the couple faces due to the constant attention and scrutiny from others. The singer questions why people care so much about their relationship and finds it hard to be themselves when they are constantly being stared at. This highlights the pressure and challenges they face from external sources.
The second chorus reinforces the idea that despite everything, their love is undeniable. The singer desires a place where they can hide away from all the judgments and criticisms, and all they need is the faith and support of their partner to remind them of their love for each other.
In the final repetition of the chorus, the singer emphasizes that their love will always triumph over the opinions of others. They sing it repeatedly to emphasize their conviction that their love is real and worth fighting for.
Overall, "You're The One That I Love" portrays a tumultuous relationship where external opinions and judgment play a significant role. Despite the struggles, the lyrics convey a strong and enduring love between the two individuals involved.
