Blessed
Timothy Seth Avett as Darling Lyrics

Well I've been up for thirty hours now
And I just saw a shooting star
Falling through an empty sky
Tonight my memory's like a halo
Hovering above my head
Though all my thoughts are filled with evil
A silver cross hangs from my neck
I don't need them to hold it now
They never called my name
It's voice was quiet anyhow
Bless me with your quiet singing
And whisper music in my ears
The best and worst thing about your memory
It doesn't fade with the passing years
And I remember something like love
Passing, strolling, riding, and rolling through my veins
I know this talented young poet
Said it all when he sang November
The season blue remains
Oh... the season blue remains
They never held my hand
Girl, I don't need you to hold it now
They never called my name
It's voice was quiet anyhow
Bless me with your quiet sing...
The song "Blessed" by Timothy Seth Avett as Darling tells the story of a reflective individual who has been awake for over thirty hours and is grappling with their memories and thoughts. The first verse sets a melancholic tone, with the singer asking the listener not to accuse them of letting them down. They then observe a shooting star piercing through a desolate sky, highlighting their feeling of isolation. Despite their mind being preoccupied with "evil" thoughts, the singer finds solace in the silver cross hanging from their neck, indicating that they may be seeking spiritual guidance.
The second verse reveals that the singer may have experienced neglect from those around them, as they state that "they never held my hand" and "they never called my name." However, the singer asserts that they don't need anyone's assistance, as they have found comfort within themselves. In the bridge, the singer asks to be blessed with the gentle singing and whispers of their beloved, indicating that romantic love may be a source of solace for them. The chorus repeats itself, reiterating the singer's self-sufficiency and independence.
One of the key themes of this song is the tension between memory and the present moment. While the singer is haunted by memories of love from the past, they still find comfort in the present through their own strength and spirituality. The mention of a shooting star could also be interpreted as a symbol of fleeting hope in a dark and uncertain world.
