Nobody's Man

Take what you can
And then hide it somewhere I can't see
Out of my hands
Do what it takes to make you feel better
Never forget that you
You're nobody's man
With a stroke of your hand
And your puzzled look when we make love
That you don't understand
But nothing I've got will make you feel better
At the break of dawn you'll still
Be nobody's man
Nobody feels the weight of your mission
Nobody can set you free
Nobody knows the way to your fortune
Nobody and least of all...
Me
So come and lay by my side
In my castle of sand
Let's love til the early tide
Breaks down the dam
Stay if you want for worse or for better
But never forget that you
You're nobody's man
Nobody feels the weight of your mission
Nobody can set you free
Nobody knows the way to your fortune
Nobody and least of all...
Me
You... You... You... You...
Nobody feels the weight of your mission
Nobody can set you free
Nobody knows the way to your fortune
Nobody and least of all...
Me
In "Nobody's Man," Tina Dickow sings about a man who is haunted by a sense of purpose or ambition that leaves him unable to fully connect or commit to anyone. The song is filled with longing and frustration as the singer laments the inability to help this man and the fact that he will never belong to anyone. She urges him to take what he needs from her but knows that it won't satisfy the deeper emptiness he feels. She expresses her love for him and the way he makes her feel, but she knows that he will always be searching for something more, and it's something she can never give him. The song ends on a bittersweet note, with the singer offering love and support but also accepting that he will always be "nobody's man".

With a stroke of your hand

The confused expression on your face during intimacy
That you don't understand
You don't comprehend the depth of my feelings for you
But nothing I've got will make you feel better
I cannot provide what you need to feel better
At the break of dawn you'll still
Even when the day begins you'll still
Be nobody's man
You are still free to make your own choices and are not obligated to anyone
Nobody feels the weight of your mission
No one understands the expectations you have for yourself
Nobody can set you free

And certainly not...
Me
I cannot provide the answers you seek, nor can I free you of your burdens
So come and lay by my side
Come lay next to me
In my castle of sand
In my fragile, temporary shelter
Let's love til the early tide
Let's love until the tide rises early in the morning
Breaks down the dam
Floods our castle of sand and destroys it
Stay if you want for worse or for better
Stay with me through good times and bad
But never forget that you
But always remember that you
You're nobody's man
You belong to yourself, and no one else
You... You... You... You...
You are in control of your own life

Tina Dickow is one of the best danish songwriters I've heard in many years. Unruined by what else is going on the music industry at home and in the rest of the world. She has the talents to make it far and I'll bet you she's still around in 15 to 20 years. A beautiful and powerfull song..
