According to the Pass Out Songfacts, Okogwu came up with his stage name at the age of 13. He looked up 'anger' in the thesaurus and found himself staring at 'temper.' Concerned it might be overly aggresive he added 'Tinie.'
Tinie Tempah first gained recognition in the underground music scene with the track Wifey, taken from his first official mixtape Hood Econ%mics Room 147: The 80 Minute Course. Upon it's release, the track became an instant smash, holding the Channel U urban chart top spot for 10 consecutive weeks. Established artists within the Grime scene including Bashy and Chipmunk featured on the mixtape. In 2009 Tinie Tempah released his second official mixtape Sexy Beast: Volume 1.
In October 2009 Tinie Tempah announced a record deal with EMI/Parlophone. He released his debut album on the label, disc-overy, on October 4th 2010. The album spawned six consecutive top 20 singles in the UK including number ones pass out and written in the stars, and swedish house mafia collaborative single miami 2 ibiza.
disc-overy is due for release in the US on May 17th 2011. The tracklist for the album features new collaborations with wiz khalifa, bei maejor and ester dean. It was preceded by written in the stars as it's lead single, which has thus far peaked at 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tinie Tempah Lyrics

Here everyone's a hero
Yeah we all learn to fly away
No tears when the sun goes
Cause heroes never die no way
Here everyone's a hero
We all got a second chance
And heaven plays piano
[Verse:]
Victory is ours
Mystery and power
History is sour
The future smells sweet
Try'na get into heaven racing through hells streets
Dancing with the devil with my two left feet
Laughing with the rebels up on new year's eve
65432
As the devil in the red white and blue dress leaves
She says I'm a motherfucking c you n t
Say hello to everybody's favourite new mc
Loving the alphabet except these two nv
Some of these motherufckers getting too friendly
Why the fuck am I sitting next to two mp's
Bullshit and politics try'na find out where knowledge is
‘cos it ain't in a scholarship
Or these schools and colleges
Studied by psychologists
Quality in my qualities
Try'na disturb the whole wild world with no apologies
[Chorus:]
Here everyone's a hero
Yeah we all learn to fly away
No tears when the sun goes
‘cos heroes never die no way
Here everyone's a hero
We all got a second chance
And heaven plays piano
Cause heroes love to dance
[Verse:]
Fuck the fucking watershed and all the censors
Cause I'll be going going gone from november
You ask me one more question bout our census
I'll go deed poll and loose my fucking tempah
Nobodies safe whilst I'm focused on my agenda
No race religion or gender
See these niggas get a sudden case of dementia
Them fashion bloggers gimme top marks for my spencer uh
Spencer heart expensive art
Won't take the tube send a car
Bad women kendra stars
Kickers from ann summers and mad la senza bras
Heaven plays piano I'm try'na learn guitar
Are we any closer to god if we're the stars
Together we stand divided we fall apart
I think it's time to show everyone who we are
[Chorus:]
Here everyone's a hero
Yeah we all learn to fly away
No tears when the sun goes
‘cos heroes never die no way
Here everyone's a hero
We all got a second chance
And heaven plays piano
‘cos heroes love to dance
