It's only right you let the tears fall
Boy, you're strong but you can't take it all
You just lost ones
You're just a man
Don't be scared to let the angels fly
Just let go 'cause it's your time to cry
You just lost ones
You just lost ones
You just lost ones
Said that we would never break
Said that we would never falter
I thought we'd make it to the grave
I thought we'd make it to the altar
Let a critical acclaim?
Put your hands on the table where the paper and the salt are
Only thing missing?
Hey, said that everything will kill me
But it would then make me stronger
But in the final of the war we
We wishing we could stay for longer
Baby, it will make us stronger
When the living die every day
You better? Go away
And I'm over you and you're over me
And you're overdue and I'm overseas
'Cause I called you names and you phoned police
All men are the same? We arguing along dover street
In "Lost Ones," Tinie Tempah uses powerful lyrics to explore the theme of loss and the complexity of emotions that come along with it. The lyrics are addressed to a man who has just experienced a heavy loss and is struggling to cope with the pain. Through the lyrics, the artist highlights the human side of grief and encourages the listener to embrace their emotions, express them and let them out. He acknowledges that it can be challenging to process a loss, but it is essential to allow oneself to cry and let go of what is causing the pain.
The song also talks about the disappointment and disillusionment one can feel when something they once thought was solid and unbreakable falls apart. The lines "Said that we would never break, said that we would never falter, I thought we'd make it to the grave, I thought we'd make it to the altar" highlights a sense of betrayal or sadness that comes along when something you've put faith in lets you down. The artist acknowledges that things don't always go as planned, and this can be difficult to process.
