Clocks
Tito Lopez Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The lights go out and I can't be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have brought me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing

Come out of the things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head and a
Trouble that can't be named
A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing

You are, you are

Confusion that never stops
The closing walls and the ticking clocks gonna
Come back and take you home
I could not stop, that you now know, singing

Come out upon my seas
Cursed missed opportunities am I
A part of the cure
Or am I part of the disease, singing

You are, you are
You are, you are
You are, you are

And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares
And nothing else compares

You are, you are

Home, home, where I wanted to go
Home, home, where I wanted to go

Home, home, where I wanted to go (You are)
Home, home, where I wanted to go (You are)

Overall Meaning

Clocks by Tito Lopez is a song that is open to interpretation, but one thing that stands out is the elements of confusion and the feeling of being lost. The first verse starts with the lights going out, which could signify a sudden loss of direction or sudden confusion. The character then begs and pleads as they try to find their way out of the confusion. In the second verse, the character talks about missed opportunities and wonders if they are part of the cure or the disease. The chorus is where the character seeks clarity in the midst of the confusion. The line "you are" is repeated as if referring to something or someone that is certain in their life, but what that thing or person is is left open to interpretation. The song ends with the character seeking home, which could stand for a sense of belonging or a place where they can find their way.

Overall, Clocks is a song that is both introspective and relatable, as it expresses emotions that many people feel when faced with confusion and challenges in life. The repetition of the phrase "you are" and the sense of seeking something or someone give the song a sense of hope, even in the midst of uncertainty.

quiet triste

I remember being 11 years old. Listening to this song while traveling and visiting my home country. I was so happy and was looking forward to play with my friends, it was such a beautiful time in my life. Back then my parents were younger me and my brothers were close, me and my friends were innocent. So many memories i just cry and hug my little self and tell him thank you for every beautiful memory he gave me. I love you little one.
