I Wanna Talk About Me
Toby Keith Lyrics

Yeah, yeah
That's right
We talk about your work how your boss is a jerk
We talk about your church and your head when it hurts
We talk about the troubles you've been having with your brother
About your daddy and your mother and your crazy ex-lover
We talk about your friends and the places that you've been
We talk about your skin and the dimples on your chin
The polish on your toes and the run in your hose
And God knows we're gonna talk about your clothes
You know talking about you makes me smile
But every once in a while

I want to talk about me
Want to talk about I
Want to talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionally
I want to talk about me
I want to talk about me

We talk about your dreams and we talk about your schemes
Your high school team and your moisturizer creme
We talk about your nanna up in Muncie, Indiana
We talk about your grandma down in Alabama
We talk about your guys of every shape and size
The ones that you despise and the ones you idolize
We talk about your heart, about your brains and your smarts
And your medical charts and when you start
You know talking about you makes me grin
But every now and then

I want to talk about me
Want to talk about I
Want to talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionally
I want to talk about me
I want to talk about me

You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you
I want to talk about me

I want to talk about me
Want to talk about I
Want to talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionally
I want to talk about me (me, me, me, me)
I want to talk about me (me, me)

I want to talk about me (me, me, me, me)
'Bout me (me, me)

Overall Meaning

Toby Keith's "I Wanna Talk About Me" is a song that is all about self-love and the desire for attention from others. The lyrics describe how the singer is happy to talk about the lives and problems of those around him, but occasionally wants to switch the conversation to focus on himself. In the verses, he lists various topics he is willing to discuss, from work and church to family and lovers, but emphasizes that he ultimately wants to talk about himself. He even goes as far as to say, "What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see, I like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionally, I want to talk about me."

The song can be seen as a commentary on the self-centered nature of human beings and our tendency to prioritize our own desires and interests above others. It also highlights the importance of self-expression and the need for validation from others. For the singer, talking about himself brings him pleasure and boosts his self-esteem, but he also acknowledges the importance of balancing this with conversations about others.

Overall, "I Wanna Talk About Me" is a catchy and lighthearted song that delivers a message about self-love and the importance of balancing attention between ourselves and others.

That's usually what makes a great memorable song, and this surely was one of them!!!!

Just recently found an old mp3 player I had when i was a kid. This song was on it because my dad loved it, and he would sing it in his truck sometimes when it was on the radio. I didn't know it was about relationships because I was probably 10 but it just made me happy to see him smile. Brings back some nostalgia from when I didn't have to worry about life so much. I know nobody cares and this video is 10 years old by now so this is kind of pointless, but I guess I just wanted to talk about me.
