Don't Jump
Tokio Hotel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

On top of the roof
The air is so cold and so calm
I say your name in silence
You don't wanna hear it right now
The eyes of the city
Are counting the tears falling down
Each one a promise
Of everything you never found

I scream into the night for you
Don't make it true
Don't jump
The lights will not guide you through
They're deceiving you
Don't jump
Don't let memories go
Of me and you
The world is down there out of view
Please don't jump

You open your eyes
But you can't remember what for
The snow falls quietly
You just can't feel it no more
Somewhere out there
You lost yourself in your pain
You dream of the end
To start all over again

I scream into the night for you
Don't make it true
Don't jump
The lights will not guide you through
They're deceiving you
Don't jump
Don't let memories go
Of me and you
The world is down there out of view
Please don't jump

Don't jump

I don't know how long
I can hold you so strong
I don't know how long

Just take my hand
Give it a chance
Don't jump

I scream into the night for you
Don't make it true
Don't jump
The lights will not guide you through
They're deceiving you
Don't jump
Don't let memories go
Of me and you
The world is down there out of view
Please don't jump

Don't jump

And if all that can't hold you back
I'll jump for you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Tokio Hotel's song "Don't Jump" are a poignant warning against suicide. The song starts with the singer standing on a rooftop, calling out their loved one's name, begging them not to jump. The despair and hopelessness in the loved one's eyes have made them blind to everything around them, including the singer. The city and its lights, which at one point were a source of comfort and calm, now seem empty and deceptive. The singer implores the loved one to hold onto the memories of their relationship and not to give up on life. He tells them that they are not alone, and that he is there with them. Finally, the song ends with the singer offering to be the one to jump if it means saving their loved one.

The lyrics to "Don't Jump" are powerful and emotive, driven by the heart-wrenching pain of someone trying to save their loved one from taking their own life. Anyone who has experienced the tragedy of suicide, whether directly or indirectly, can relate to the lyrics of this song. It's a heartfelt plea for anyone who's struggling to hold on and not to give up.

The truth is that Tokio Hotel appeared at the time that many of us were teenagers, and some of us with different problems like bullying, family problems, homosexuality, etc.. and they've helped SO many persons in different ways. Everyone has a favorite group when we are young. TH's boys were young like us and write about things that we actually understand or go beyond. No one can understand that unless you are a BIG fan.

I was 9 when I used to listen to them.. Now, 11 years later I'm listening to them again and it impresses me how much I could understand what they were singing about.

Teenage me stayed alive in hopes of ever meeting Bill or Tom, now I'm in my 30's, and realize if it weren't for Tokio Hotel, and many other bands, I wouldn't have made it this far. Music really is a blessing.
