A love of nature is an ever present voice in his work, lending a widescreen quality to his music, from intimate piano moments to mountainous waves of sound. He started playing the piano at a young age, and soon discovered that improvising and creating new music came a lot more naturally than reading dots on a page. This discovery blossomed when he bought his first guitar as a teenager and Adams soon started to write his own songs, his haunting voice has drawn comparisons to singers like Thom Yorke and Jeff Buckley. Going on to study music at the University of York, he had the opportunity to work with both classical and electronic music, the combination of which has become the defining aspect of his sound.
Combining his natural ability to improvise with his classical training and electronic music knowledge Adams is able to move seamlessly between styles whilst always maintaining a strong overall aesthetic. The result is a breathtaking and beautiful musical experience that is a perfect soundtrack to mountains and wild beaches.
Adams remixed Max Richter’s ‘Berlin By Overnight’, released by Deutsche Grammophon, and also composed the OST for the Universal Pictures feature film ‘The Knife That Killed Me’. His self-released EP ‘In The Constant Noise’ is out.
Fade
Tom Adams Lyrics

And finally walk away
It's the last time
But the road back home
Feels longer now
REmember that night
We promised with young hearts
But forever did not last a long time
You know
I'm holding on memories still
And I'm holding on memories still
And I'm holding on memories still
Six months have passed
That we can't ignore
The light slowly fades
But what do you see when you close your eyes?
You know
I'm holding on memories still
And I'm holding on memories still
And I'm holding on memories still
And you fade away
And you fade away
And you fade away
And you fade away
And you fade away
The lyrics to Tom Adams's song "Fade" speak to the pain of letting go of a love that was once promised forever. The first verse highlights the finality of the situation, as the singer whispers goodbye and walks away knowing that it is the last time. However, despite this sense of closure, the road back home feels infinitely longer now that the relationship has ended.
The second verse harkens back to the night when the couple made their promise, their hearts full of hope and possibility. But, as often happens, forever did not last as long as they had imagined. The singer remains haunted by memories of that promise and the love they once shared. The chorus repeats the line, "I'm holding on memories still," emphasizing the difficulty of letting go.
The final verse acknowledges the passage of time – six months have passed since the relationship ended. The light slowly fades, suggesting a growing sense of darkness or sadness. But the singer wonders what the other person sees when they close their eyes, as if hoping that they too are holding onto the same memories. The song concludes with a refrain of "And you fade away," as the singer accepts that their love is slipping further and further away.
