Weight of the World
Tom Billington Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One, two, three...

Open your eyes,
And you might see
In a different light than before.
If you don't try,
You'll remember
Me as I was. (Me as I was.)

I let the past stay in the past, (Ooooooooooooooh)
All full of scars and tears and ropeburns. (Oo-ooooooooooooooh)
And you will belong. (And you will belong.)
And you will be strong. (And you will be strong.)

I'm just so tired of it all! (I'm just so tired of it all.)
Sometimes you grow; sometimes you fall.
(Sometimes you grow, sometimes you fall.)
Stop taking the world on your shoulders.
(Stop taking the world on your shoulders.)
Stop taking the world on... (Stop taking the world on...)
Taking the world on. (Taking the world on.)

Thinking back,
I'm glad it's over.
And regrets?
Sure, I've had a few.
If you bleed,
You bleed all over
The page that never turned.

I let the past stay in the past, (Ooooooooooooooooh)
All full of scars and tears and ropeburns. (Oo-ooooooooooooooh)
And you will belong. (And you will belong.)

And you will be strong. (And you will be strong.)

I'm just so tired of it all! (I'm just so tired of it all.)
Sometimes you grow; sometimes you fall.
(Sometimes you grow, sometimes you fall.)
Stop taking the world on your shoulders.
(Stop taking the world on your shoulders.)
Stop taking the world on... (Stop taking the world on...)
Taking the world on. (Taking the world on.)

Hoo-oooooo-o-o-oooooo
Hoo-oooooo-o-o-oooooo (Hoo-oooooo-o-o-oooooo)
Hoo-oooooo-o-oooo (Hoo-oooooo-o-oooo)
Hoo-oooooo-o-o-oooooo... (Hoo-oooooo-o-o-oooooo...)

I let the past stay in the past,
All full of scars, bars,
girls, and ropeburns.
And you will go on.
And you will be strong.

I'm sick and tired of it all! (I'm sick and tired of it all.)
Sometimes you grow; sometimes you fall.
(Sometimes you grow, sometimes you fall.)
Stop taking the world on your shoulders.
(Stop taking the world on your shoulders.)
Stop taking the world on... (Stop taking the world on...)
Taking the world on... (Taking the world on...)
Taking the world on... (Taking the world on...)

Taking the world on... (Taking the world on...)
Taking the world on.

Overall Meaning

The song "Weight of the World" by Tom Billington is about letting go of past mistakes and moving on. The opening lines tell the listener to open their eyes and see things in a different light than before, and that if they don't try, they'll remember the singer as they were before. The singer then talks about letting the past stay in the past, full of scars, tears, and rope burns, and that the listener will belong and be strong.

The chorus repeats the line "I'm just so tired of it all" and encourages the listener to stop taking the weight of the world on their shoulders. The second verse talks about looking back and being glad it's over, but also having regrets. The last few lines of the song repeat the theme of moving on and being strong.

Overall, the song is about finding the strength to move on from past mistakes and not carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. It's a message of hope and encouragement for anyone who may be struggling.

I remember as a kid watching the Bulldog as a tag team, and I thought the greatest match was The British Bull dogs vs The Hart Foundation back in the 80's the match was non stop incredible moves. And I also loved the match between The Hart Foundation vs Brutus Beefcake and Greg The Hammer Valentine.

I think we can all agree that Dynamite was an absolute prick in real life, but neither should he be forgotten or conveniently erased!!! In the ring he was top class and most definitely changed "Pro Wrestling" A true tough guy and greatly respected by nearly all his peers!

Apparently he was a very nice bloke until he started taking loads of steroids. According to his wife on the Dark Side of the Ring documentary.

So was Chris Benoit 😂

Wow, Beefcake took the British Bulldogs under his wings and made them into a good tag team. That's so nice of him. Finally, after wrestling for God knows how long in the UK, than in Canada and Japan, they wrestled since they were skinny young boys, they finally got to meet Brutus, who could "school" them and show them how it's done. What a shame Dynamite didn't get to meet him BEFORE his iconic and trend sending matches with Tiger Mask, imagine how good he could have been...Wow, his stories are about as believable and legit as those of Hulk Hogan.
