For the past 4 years Wehrle has pursued his musical talents and his search has allowed him to travel around the country on multiple occasions, perform hundreds of time, release an indie CD and garner a belt of accolades. This summer, Wehrle is set to release his sophomore release on August 30, 2005, entitled "Room to Dream".
In music circles, the sophomore album is known as a hex or a curse on a music career. This isn't the case, as is evident upon first listen of Room to Dream. The album was recorded and mixed by Wehrle at his own studio and mastered by Ron Boustead (Lenny Kravitz, Smashing Pumpkins, Ben Harper) at Precision Mastering in Hollywood, CA. Room to Dream features Drew Bailey (Greenwheel) playing drums on most of the 13 tracks.
Of course, living with a specific goal and a dream in your heart comes at a cost. Wehrle has been fortunate to rely on support from his friends and family in making his dreams a reality. Everyone has to start somewhere, and for Tom his beginning is a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri.
He lives at home in close quarters to Milkshake Studios and has a strong relationship with his brothers and sisters. Performing mainly as a college artist, Tom still dreams of playing with a live band in packed venues all over the country. For anyone who has ever inspired to be in music, performing as an unknown in colleges across the country can be a very humbling experience, to say the least.
Wehrle understands that if everyone is pursuing a dream and not paying attention to those around you, it's all in vain. So, we should all help and encourage each other to pursue excellence and dream big.
The album is destined to be a pop music lovers dream. Wehrle writes a clever hook for each song and delivers powerful lyrics and vocals to paint a picture that relates. Wehrle writes songs with topics which range from seeking love to reaching for your dreams to encouragement.
With musical influences like Switchfoot, John Mayer, and the Wallflowers, it's a great pop mix which could easily find it's way onto radio if the right people gave Wehrle a chance.
Far Away
Tom Wehrle Lyrics

Close your eyes, but it doesn't help you forget the hurt that resides
Yeah my heart goes out to you, or anyone who's felt this way
I can't lie, I've been there too with sadness I can't place
'Cause I know how you feel right now
When it all looks surreal & the morning light feels close
You should see everything in color, no room for black & white
Start living, there's no time to get hung up on all that sucks in life
Yeah my heart goes out to you, or anyone who's felt this way
I can't lie, I've been there too with sadness & the growing pains
And you've reached for the stars, but never gotten that far
Where's the joy that lived inside your life
Has it died, or are you holding yourself down
The lyrics of Tom Wehrle's song Far Away are an empathetic message that is intended to console someone who is going through a tough time, going through stages of sadness and depression. The opening lines of the song describe the state of mind of someone who is having a hard time sleeping at night due to the emotional pain they are feeling. Even though this person is trying to close their eyes and escape from their troubles, they are unable to do so since the sadness is deeply internalized. The singer acknowledges the pain and empathizes with the person by saying that his heart goes out to them because he has felt the same sadness before.
The chorus of the song "Cause I know how you feel right now when it all looks surreal & the morning light feels close but you're far away" is a vivid reminder of the times when one feels disconnected from reality and feels like they are watching their life play out from a distance. While they may be physically present, their emotional state is far away, they are far away from their true selves, and are struggling with getting in touch with their emotions.
The theme of the song is about rediscovering joy and living life to the fullest. The singer encourages the person to see everything in color, to put behind the black and white version of their life, and embrace life with enthusiasm. The closing lines of the song suggest that the person has the potential to achieve great things by reaching for the stars but never quite getting there, and the singer reminds them to let go of their inhibitions and live their life to the fullest.
