For the past 4 years Wehrle has pursued his musical talents and his search has allowed him to travel around the country on multiple occasions, perform hundreds of time, release an indie CD and garner a belt of accolades. This summer, Wehrle is set to release his sophomore release on August 30, 2005, entitled "Room to Dream".
In music circles, the sophomore album is known as a hex or a curse on a music career. This isn't the case, as is evident upon first listen of Room to Dream. The album was recorded and mixed by Wehrle at his own studio and mastered by Ron Boustead (Lenny Kravitz, Smashing Pumpkins, Ben Harper) at Precision Mastering in Hollywood, CA. Room to Dream features Drew Bailey (Greenwheel) playing drums on most of the 13 tracks.
Of course, living with a specific goal and a dream in your heart comes at a cost. Wehrle has been fortunate to rely on support from his friends and family in making his dreams a reality. Everyone has to start somewhere, and for Tom his beginning is a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri.
He lives at home in close quarters to Milkshake Studios and has a strong relationship with his brothers and sisters. Performing mainly as a college artist, Tom still dreams of playing with a live band in packed venues all over the country. For anyone who has ever inspired to be in music, performing as an unknown in colleges across the country can be a very humbling experience, to say the least.
Wehrle understands that if everyone is pursuing a dream and not paying attention to those around you, it's all in vain. So, we should all help and encourage each other to pursue excellence and dream big.
The album is destined to be a pop music lovers dream. Wehrle writes a clever hook for each song and delivers powerful lyrics and vocals to paint a picture that relates. Wehrle writes songs with topics which range from seeking love to reaching for your dreams to encouragement.
With musical influences like Switchfoot, John Mayer, and the Wallflowers, it's a great pop mix which could easily find it's way onto radio if the right people gave Wehrle a chance.

But you don't know, cause you don't fall
Always on your feet
The one everybody wants to be
But I see you wanna scream
You run to lock your door
Cause you can't take anymore
Like there's nothing in this town
That you don't know
I feel strong but it don't take long
To see that I'm weak, down on my knees
But you don't know, no not at all
Cause you can't see me
When I'm not on your TV screen
Just when you think it's over
You'll see a shooting rainbow
If you will wait and see
It will come eventually
Not like the movie screens
Come on, this is reality
You run to lock your door
Cause you can't take anymore
You follow everyone around
Like there's nothing in this town
Yeah, you run to lock your world
Cause you can't take anymore
You've followed everyone around
With something still not found
Cause you don't know
In the first verse, the singer talks about reaching a breaking point or hitting a wall in their life. They feel like they have reached the end of their rope, but the person they are addressing does not understand or empathize because they always seem to be on top and never fall. This person is admired by everyone and is seen as someone to aspire to be. However, the singer notices that despite this image, this person actually wants to express their frustrations and scream like anyone else.
The singer then describes how this person, when overwhelmed, retreats to lock their door, seeking refuge from whatever is causing them distress. They follow everyone around, always in the know and seemingly unaffected by what is happening in town. They appear to be in control and have all the answers.
In the second verse, the singer reveals that despite their strong exterior, they feel weak and find themselves on their knees. But since this person they're addressing can only see them when they are on their TV screen, they are oblivious to the singer's struggles. The singer implies that this person's perception of them is limited to what is showcased on TV, which is not an accurate reflection of their inner struggles.
The chorus suggests that just when this person thinks everything is over or resolved, they will see a shooting rainbow, symbolizing hope and positivity. The singer encourages them to be patient and wait for this positive change to come eventually. They contrast the idea of a rainbow with movie screens to emphasize that real life is not always like the perfect stories portrayed in films. This emphasizes the importance of accepting and embracing reality.
The song ends with a repetition of the idea that this person locks their door to escape from whatever troubles them. They continue to follow others around, but despite their efforts, there is still something missing or unfulfilled in their life. The singer concludes by emphasizing that this person does not truly know because they haven't experienced the same struggles and challenges.
