She's Got Me Dancing
Tommy Sparks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, what'd you know about the song and the dance and the wine?
That boy is looking at you and he says that he knows your kind
I see you dancin' but you never ever mark your words
Hey, what do you know, I think you've gotta do this up again

Have you ever
Felt so lonely
In this cold
World, so cold
Have you ever
Felt so lonely

She's got me dancin'
She's got me dancin'
She's got me dancin
And she's always one step behind (x2)

Hey, you, I move to the side
Just to lift a little least of your life
That ex got a bullet in the side and she likes what you did before
You see me dancin' but I never ever like to talk
Hey, what do we know, I think we've done it to ourselves again

Have you ever
Felt so lonely
In this cold
World, so cold
Have you ever
Felt so lonely

She's got me dancin'
She's got me dancin'
She's got me dancin
And she's always one step behind (x2)

Have you ever
Felt so lonely
In this cold
World, so cold
Have you ever
Felt so lonely

She's got me dancin'
She's got me dancin'

She's got me dancin
And she's always one step behind (x4)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Tommy Sparks's song She's Got Me Dancing portrays a sense of desperation and loneliness in a cold world. The song seems to be about a woman who has a magnetic pull on the singer, making him dance to her tune. The opening lines, "Hey, what'd you know about the song and the dance and the wine? That boy is looking at you, and he says that he knows your kind." could be interpreted as the singer noticing a woman who attracts a certain type of man, and he is drawn to her as well.

The song continues with the singer talking about how the woman has "got him dancing," and he can't stop himself from moving to her rhythm. He then asks if the intended recipient of the song has ever felt as lonely as he has, suggesting that he is using dancing with this woman as a form of escape or companionship. The phrase "she's always one step behind" is repeated throughout the song, which could signify the woman's reluctance to commit to a relationship or move at the singer's pace.

The song's repetitive beat and catchy melody contrast with the somewhat melancholy lyrics. Overall, the song presents a bittersweet portrayal of romance and the desire for connection.

This song brings back so many memories. Back then when my mom got us a ps3 and playing fifa 10 was our favorite pastime. Those were the good old days when societal expectations hadn't taken toll and everything was unadulterated.
