Durango Kid
Eu vim trazer
Eu vim mostrar
Novo jornal
Novo sorriso
Novo jornal
Novo sorriso
O só exato
Pois hoje eu sou
O que eu fui
Não desmenti
O meu passado
Este jornal
É o meu revólver
Este jornal
É o meu sorriso
Propriamente eu sou
O só exato
Pois hoje eu sou
O que eu fui
Não desmenti
O meu passado
Este jornal
Este jornal
É o meu revólver
Este jornal
É o meu sorriso
Este jornal
É o meu revólver
Este jornal
É o meu sorriso
Este jornal
É o meu revólver
Este jornal
É o meu sorriso
Este jornal
É o meu revólver
Este jornal
É o meu sorriso
These lyrics from Toninho Horta's song "Durango Kid" convey a sense of personal identity and the power of one's past experiences. The lyrics speak from the perspective of someone identifying themselves as Durango Kid, emphasizing their individuality and uniqueness. Durango Kid sees themselves as having a purpose in this world, stating that they have come to bring something new and to show it to others.
The repetition of the phrases "Novo jornal" (new newspaper) and "Novo sorriso" (new smile) suggests that Durango Kid is bringing something fresh and positive into their life and the lives of others. They describe their identity as the "só exato" (exact alone), implying that they are confident and authentic in who they are. Durango Kid acknowledges their past but does not deny or hide it, stating that they have not contradicted ("desmenti") their past self.
The lyrics then connect the idea of the newspaper with a revolver, suggesting that this "newspaper" serves as a weapon or tool. It implies that the information or message Durango Kid carries has the power to protect or defend, just as a revolver would. Moreover, the repetition of the phrase "Este jornal é o meu revólver" (This newspaper is my revolver) strengthens the association between the two.
In the end, Durango Kid reiterates their connection between the newspaper and their personal identity, emphasizing that it is also their smile. This suggests that the message they carry is not just powerful but also brings joy and positivity. By repeating the line "É o meu sorriso" (It is my smile), it reinforces the idea that the newspaper, the message, and Durango Kid's identity are intertwined.
Overall, these lyrics highlight the individuality, strength, and positivity of Durango Kid as they embrace their past, provide something new, and carry a message that can protect and bring joy to themselves and others.
