The final recording by the late Amy Winehouse "Body and Soul", a duet with Tony Bennett, was released on September 14, 2011 on MTV and VH1. To commemorate what would have been her 28th birthday, her father, Mitch Winehouse has launched the The Amy Winehouse Foundation. The foundation's goal is to raise awareness and support for organizations that help vulnerable, young adults with problems such as addiction. Proceeds from "Body and Soul" will go to benefit The Amy Winehouse Foundation

For you I sigh, for you dear only
Why haven't you seen it
I'm all for you, body and soul
I spend my days in longin'
And wondering why it's me you're wronging
I tell you I mean it
I can't believe it
It's hard to conceive it
That you turn away romance, oh
Are you pretending?
It looks like the ending
Unless I could have one more chance to prove it, dear
My life, a wreck you're making
You know I'm yours for just the taking
I'd gladly surrender myself to you, body and soul
Are you pretending?
It looks like the ending
Unless I could have one more chance to prove, dear
My life, a wreck you're making
You know I'm yours for just the taking
I'd gladly surrender myself to you, body and soul
The lyrics in Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse's song, Body and Soul, express a deep yearning for love and longing for someone who seems to be unattainable. The singer expresses their feelings of love and devotion for the person they are addressing, but they haven't been acknowledged. The use of "for you, I sigh" and "I'm all for you" shows the depth of love the singer has for the person they are addressing. However, despite their efforts, it seems like that person is not reciprocating the same feelings, leading to confusion and disbelief.
The lyrics also seem to suggest that the singer is willing to do anything for this person, even if it means sacrificing their own happiness. "My life a wreck, you're making / You know, I'm yours for just the taking / I'd gladly surrender myself to you" displays the desperation and willingness of the singer to give their all for the one they love.
Overall, the lyrics of Body and Soul express emotions that everyone can relate to: the desire for love and affection from someone special, the pain and heartache of an unrequited love, and the willingness to go to great lengths to win that person's heart.
