Tony Hernández & Jumbo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Ya no me quieres
Solo me odias
Todo bien
Y me pongo a pensar que tú y yo va a acabar
Y sería mejor si ya no estás aquí
Y me pongo a temblar, porque empiezo a reír
Aquí (eeh oh)
De aqui
Nadie funciona
Nada me sirve
Todo puede terminar y siempre bien
Esta ciudad
Me va a aplastar
Estoy vivo
Estoy vivo (huh)
Estoy vivo y sigo aquí (woo hoo eeh oh)
Aquí (eeh oh)
De aquí
The song "Aquí" by Tony Hernández & Jumbo explores themes of lost love, frustration, and a desire for escape.
The first two lines, "Ya no me amas, Ya no me quieres" translate to "You no longer love me, You no longer want me." These lines indicate that the singer's romantic relationship has deteriorated, and the feelings of love and desire have vanished. The following line, "Solo me odias," meaning "You only hate me," suggests that the emotional connection has turned into animosity. However, the phrase "Todo bien," which translates to "Everything is fine," seems ironic as it contradicts the negative emotions expressed in the previous lines.
The next set of lyrics, "Y me pongo a pensar que tú y yo va a acabar, Y sería mejor si ya no estás aquí" mean "And I start to think that you and I will end, And it would be better if you are not here anymore." Here, the singer reflects on the impending end of the relationship and expresses a wish for the other person to be gone. This longing for separation is intensified as the singer trembles and starts to laugh, suggesting a mixture of fear and relief. The lyrics "Y por un segundo puedo ver que salgo de aquí" metaphorically depict the desire to leave the situation and escape from the negativity.
The chorus repeats the word "Aquí" several times, which means "Here." This repetition emphasizes the feeling of being trapped or confined. The following line, "Nadie funciona, Nada me sirve" translates to "No one works, Nothing serves me," indicating a sense of hopelessness and disillusionment. The lyrics "Todo puede terminar y siempre bien, Esta ciudad me va a aplastar, Es una sala de espera" suggest a resignation and acceptance of the fact that everything will eventually end, but the singer feels overwhelmed by their surroundings. The phrase "Es una sala de espera" can be interpreted as viewing life as a waiting room, waiting for something better to come.
The second verse starts with the line "Esta ciudad se puede derretir," translating to "This city can melt." This line presents a metaphorical description of the city deteriorating or collapsing under the weight of the singer's emotions. The following lines "Y yo puedo estar sentado dentro de un proyectil, Siento el dedo de Dios justo encima de mí" convey a feeling of vulnerability and being at the mercy of external forces. The singer feels as if they are sitting inside a projectile, helpless to control their direction. The mention of feeling "the finger of God right above me" signifies a higher power overseeing their situation.
The song ends with the lines "Estoy vivo, Estoy vivo, Estoy vivo y sigo aquí, Aquí, De aquí." These lyrics convey a resilient spirit, emphasizing that despite the difficulties and emotional turmoil described throughout the song, the singer is still alive and continues to endure. The repetition of "Estoy vivo" serves as a reminder of their existence and determination to persist. The repetition of "Aquí" and the final phrase "De aquí" reflect a sense of being stuck in the same place, longing for escape, and searching for something beyond their current situation.
