Toxic Narcotic was formed with the intent of mixing their favorite elements of punk and hardcore into an original sound with some nihilistic lyrics. This mix of brutal music with extremely energetic shows has created a large local and national following of people from different genres of underground music. The band has toured almost constantly for the past ten years all over North America and Europe. Aside from being the support act on several national tours, Toxic Narcotic has done countless DIY tours and has played with almost every band imaginable in every conceivable location. The band has self-released most of our own material from the very beginning on Rodent Popsicle Records, a label formed by the members of the band in 1992. Rodent Popsicle Records has grown to be one of the largest punk labels in New England and has put out almost one hundred releases to date. The label has helped dozens of local Boston area bands and booked countless shows for local and touring bands large and small.
Toxic Narcotic’s personal belief is that respect and integrity are more important than image and popularity. This is why we have always incorporated whatever style of music we want in our sound with no regard to what people think of us or trying to fit into any one specific clique or genre of underground music. We do not care what genre you choose to classify us as, nor do we care what people think of us! We choose not to rehash old musical styles by sounding like our influences, but rather create our own unique sound like a lot of the bands we are influenced by were doing in their time. Because we mix all kinds of styles into our music we have fans from every genre of underground music. We do not prefer any one group of people or subgenre of punk music over another. The band believes in unity in the so called scene but not at the cost of accepting ignorance from someone just because they dress the same or claim to have the same political views! We judge people by their character and actions not by their words or dress!

Scumbag
Toxic Narcotic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Toxic Narcotic's song Scumbag is a powerful protest song that sheds light on the harsh realities of the working class. The lyrics tell the story of a person who works tirelessly to pay their rent, only to face constant hunger, sickness, and poverty. The song highlights the struggles of the working class, and how they remain oppressed and trapped in poverty their entire lives. The song talks about the caste system, which fails to end oppression but merely changes the names, making it difficult for people to escape their chains. The lyrics are a condemnation of people who look down on the working class and treat them as subhuman beings.
The chorus of the song is a powerful message of defiance against the oppressive forces of society. The singer refuses to be anyone's slave, and they refuse to behave in a manner that upholds the systems that oppress them. The song also highlights the disparity between the rich and the poor, with the wealthy consistently inheriting the earth while the working class struggles to receive what they are worth. The only thing they have is freedom of thought, and it cannot be taken away from them.
