Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
Peace on earth, and mercy mild
God and sinners reconcile
Joyful, all ye nations, rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

Hail, the heaven-born Prince of peace
Hail the Sun of righteousness
Light and life to all he brings
Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the suns of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King

Christ, by highest heaven adored
Christ, the everlasting Lord
Late in time behold him come
Offspring of the virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail, the incarnate deity
Pleased as Man with men to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! the herald angels sing

Glory to the newborn King

Overall Meaning

"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" is a traditional Christmas carol that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, often sung in Christian churches during the Advent season. The lyrics encompass various themes, including the announcement of Jesus' birth by the angels and the message of peace and reconciliation that his arrival brings to the world.

The opening lines, "Hark! The herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King," serve as a call to attention, urging listeners to listen to the joyful message delivered by the heavenly messengers or angels. The angels proclaim the glory of the newborn king, referring to Jesus, and exclaiming the peace and mercy brought by his birth.

The second verse introduces Jesus as the heavenly prince of peace and emphasizes his role as the source of light and life to all. He is said to have risen with healing in his wings, symbolizing his role as a healer and savior. The line "Mild he lays his glory by" refers to Jesus choosing to set aside his divine glory and taking on human form in order to save humanity. He was born to bring eternal life and salvation to humankind, allowing them to be born again, metaphorically raising the souls of Earth.

The third and final verse highlights the significance of Jesus as the divine figure who is worshipped by heaven and recognized as the everlasting Lord. The lyrics mention his humble entry into the world through the virgin Mary and describe the mystery of God taking on human form. Jesus is referred to as Emmanuel, the name which means "God with us," symbolizing his divine nature dwelling among humanity.

Overall, "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" communicates the joyous message of Jesus' birth, the peace he brings to earth, and his divine nature as the savior of humankind.

@@Liatsukii we all came from some of the first ancestors of modern bacteria. This was when the primordial atmosphere was virtually oxygen free so there were only anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria which lived at around 4 billion years ago. Since then, the preponderance of life on earth (at around 3 billion years of the existence of organisms) were microscopical and bacteria and archaea were the dominant form of life. Following the laws of evolution, those microscopic organisms have evolved over billions of years into out modern society of a wide variety of life. There I hope I answered your question. In short, god isn't real. But I can still enjoy Christmas
