Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Travi$ Scott's song "Interview" depict a conversation between Travi$ Scott and an interviewer. In the first verse, Travi$ introduces himself with various aliases and braggadocious statements, such as being called Quintana, having diamonds, and serving his "flocka" (referring to his crew). The lyrics convey a sense of confidence and boastfulness.

The second verse begins with the interviewer questioning Travi$ about his origins in Texas and his choice of clothing style, noting that his clothes are typically slim fit rather than fitting the stereotype of larger attire associated with Houston. Travi$ humorously responds by saying he is more of a slender person himself, unlike many people in Houston. This exchange reflects Travi$'s individuality and non-conformity to expected norms.

The next part of the lyrics revolves around the interviewer asking Travi$ about the name "Owl Pharaoh" and how it relates to his Texan origins. Travi$ playfully responds by referencing the sound an owl makes and interjecting with "Mike Jones," a reference to a Houston rapper. This exchange adds a touch of humor and implies that Travi$ chose the name "Owl Pharaoh" because of the association with Texas culture.

The lyrics then shift to the interviewer asking about Travi$'s favorite drink. Travi$ answers with "snapple fruit punch," which leads the interviewer to jokingly imply that Travi$'s favorite drink is the kind served in a police station, insinuating that Travi$ may have a contentious relationship with the law. This playful banter adds to the overall casual tone of the conversation.

In the final part of the lyrics, the interviewer proposes a game called "Good, Great, The Best" where Travi$ is asked to respond to different terms. Travi$ confidently asserts that he wants to create "blank" music (possibly implying boundary-breaking or genre-defying music), only surrounds himself with "blank" people (suggesting he prefers being around the best individuals), and claims he is signed to "blank" music (implying a successful record label, possibly GOOD Music). Travi$'s responses showcase his ambition and confidence in his own abilities.

Overall, the lyrics to "Interview" demonstrate Travi$ Scott's swagger, wit, and willingness to embrace his own identity and uniqueness. The conversation between Travi$ and the interviewer showcases casual banter, humor, and an air of self-assuredness.

I think the conversation around this is more nuanced than of course we distill it down to

I initially had a lot of disdain and hate for this interview. I felt when he saw the ambulance during the concert, even if no one else said anything to notify him, he should have stopped and clarified what was going on and told people to make space. Instead he chose to keep playing as if it was nothing. That's pretty inexcusable to me

I've now watched previous interviews after seeing this one, and he seemed more articulate in those.

In this one, he should have just apologized and not made any excuses. He should have been coached better. I feel like he may have gotten such an earful from lawyers, he got freaked out and subsequently that made his responses wooden, robotic, and frozen. For example when he's asked if he's/who's responsible, I'm sure his butt puckered because he has to give a response that sounds contrite but also not admit anything that can be used legally against him

I feel compassion for him because he's just the artist, and it's his 'eyes and ears' off stage that need to have clear communication and feedback on the situation. He is responsible though to put that team around him that have experts in crowd management and account for worst case scenarios at events with tens of thousands of people attending in context of how rabid the fans are and how he instigates the aggressive energy

I am well aware that the vehicle was not a actual ambulance. It was a medical personnel vehicle. Again, a distinction that does not make make much of a difference.

Before Travis caught himself and said "what the fuck is that", he said "Is that a ambulance" ...

10 thousand phone flashlights in his face? They where far from his face, and the lumens from smart phone flashlights, would have very little impact on his ability to see the medical personnel vehicle (don't want to mislabel it a ambulance again ;)

I bring up Woodstock 99' because it is the only event that is comparable to what happened at Astroworld. Even Woodstock 99' was not nearly as bad as Astrowrold was though.
So if you are going to claim this is racism, was it racism that made people upset with Fred Durst as well?
I am more than open to the argument that racism is involved here. However, when you look at examples of white performers in a similar scenario, you see them getting just as much backlash... I kind of think this has more to due with 11 people being dead and 300+ injured, but if you have any evidence of unfair treatment based on race, I would love to see it.
