My guilty pleasure. Please watch them all. They get better. The books, especially Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edward's perspective) are actually really good.

One thing this movie gets right is the awkwardness of teenagers. XD I'm pretty sure the cringe acting is on purpose. Also the soundtrack is really good.

The timeline of this film is like 6 months I think. I've noticed a lot of people watching who haven't read the books don't realize that it's not a few days into the relationship and them suddenly saying I love you.

Edward doesn't think she stinks, he thinks her blood smells especially good to the point where it threatens his control over his bloodlust. And he is angry because of it lol. He doesn't want to hurt her. He and his family only hunt animals. This is also why they don't kiss much. Being that close to her threatens his control.

Vampires sort of freeze in time. Like living stone. They can't really change. So when they love someone it's forever. Its like the infatuation honeymoon phase of the relationship never ends and they typically find their soul mate and stay with them.

Robert is actually British but he's trying to do an American accent which is why his accent may be confusing.

In most vampire lore you have to be bitten to turn. But if they drain you and kill you then you don't turn because you've died. In twilight the vampires are venomous so if you get bitten and aren't drained then you turn but it's excruciatingly painful and lasts a few days before it's complete. Some vampire stories require you to die with vampire blood in your system instead. Carlisle turns people when they are dying in order to try and save them as a last resort.

Fun fact Robert wrote that piano song. It's called Bella's lullaby. He also sings that last song after Bella is bitten by James in the end and he's trying to suck the venom out.

I personally find Jacob to be the most toxic character in the series. If you do the rest of the series I'd love to hear your opinion of him.

yeah, the completion of withstanding the venom stops the heart. Bella describes her heart beating one last time before she wakes up as a vamp in the books. So you have to be alive when bitten or your heart has to be beating, at least, to spread the venom throughout your body...but once you are a vamp you are dead. And the venom CAN kill you in twilight. Not all survive being bitten. They mention in the books Esme's body was so injured that Carlisle wasn't sure if she would survive being turned. She jumped off of a cliff attempting suicide. So she had a lot of injuries to her body.

But yes, you are 100% correct Carlisle chooses those who are dying to turn into vamps. And he turned Edward because Edwards mother begged him to " please do anything to save her boy" and so that's what prompted him to turn someone for the first time. He sees it as a gift and other chance at life, from what I can remember.

The thing of it is...to Edward, Bella's blood is the most tantalizing thing he's come across in 100 years and Bella is known as a clutz, so he's trying to prevent her from injuring herself/bleeding leading to him sucking her dry and killing her. Like you said though, it's 14 years old now but damn I thought it was the bomb back in the day!

Loved these movies when they first came out, seems like such a long time ago lol. Fun Fact: The song that you can just barely hear playing in the background during the scene at the restaurant after he conveniently rescues her from those random dudes and also plays while he is getting the venom out of her after she's bitten is actually Robert Pattinson (Edward) singing. I didn't know that for a long time but read it somewhere and thought that it was interesting.

I had read the books, & watched the movies with my lovely daughter (also named Kristen strangely enough!!!). After reading the books, I felt like the acting kind of HAD to be awkward, so I don't hold it against the actors. I hope you finish the series, because unless you do, you won't really understand all the different dynamics.

Yeah, the actors are great! And have proven so in the roles they got after this franchise. They were just working with the material and acting direction they were given. And they are quite accurate to the book characters, as someone who read the books mutiple times as a teen.

Love your eye roll when she fell on the ice 🤣. Watching as an adult you really feel the extent of the teenage angst. Guess I could relate to it more when I was 15 lol. I was in middle school when the books came out so the target age range. Me and my best friend were obsessed. I was team Edward she was team Jacob. It is weird to look at their relationship as an adult now. It works in fantasy, but if any guy were that creepy in real life I would run away for sure. I will say I think the movies/acting get better as the movies go along. This one is definitely the most low budget feeling of the series. I do love the music in this movie.

I actually liked how awkward everything felt. I think in real life teenagers often DO ack awkward. They're not as smooth or as funny or as clever as a lot of TV shows and movies potray them. And the fact that the awkwardness came off made this movie feel really distinct, IMO.

It added to the whole indy movie feel this one had, which later movies lost.

When i first watched Twilight, i didnt know what to think of it because i had not read the books. I had dismissed it like a teen angst film. After watching it i was intrigued with the suggested tension between the Cullens and the Blacks, and so i read all the books. I really enjoyed the books so i stayed on the journey of watching all the films. Overall i liked the Twilight series. From.the 2nd film to the last it dived more into the Vampire world and the Blacks. The backstories of the Cullens and how they became vampires is cool, as well as the Vampire politics and the other Vampires. After you finish the Twilight series, i wonder if you would check out the Discovery of Witches series. Its 3 seasons and its really good, well filmed and well acted. I read all the books and they were amazing. - till the next movie, stay safe.

Like most book-made-movies the book is soooo much better. The book was written from Bella's 1st person perspective and while the movie tries to portray her emotional angst it goes a bit too far with the exagerated acting. The book/audiobook is soooo much better.

I USED to like twilight when I was in middle school and beginning of high school. Even read 3 of the 4 books. But as I got older, I realized how toxic that kind of relationship was/is. The acting really is cringy. Sooooo with that you do need to finish the Harry Potter series. Now that's a Fandom that I'm glad you're getting into. Sorry for the long rant. Yup, as someone who read the books, Kstew did a great job playing Bella. This is just how the character acted in the books. Super awkward and stilted. Fumbling over her words. 🤷‍♀️ Not great movie material...but true to the character from the books.

I was in the worst part of my depression after my ex went to prison, and just watched all 5 movies on repeat whenever I wasn't working or sleeping. Fun Fact 1: Robert Pattinson is a beautiful pianist and he sings too. He actually did play the piano in the filming of Twilight. Also two of the songs that he wrote before Twilight were included in the Soundtrack of the movie. These were "Let Me Sign" and "Never Think". He wrote the music and the lyrics and also sang.
Fun Fact 2: Stephenie Meyer the author of the Twilight had a cameo in the movie. Did you see here? She also has a cameo in one of the other four. No spoilers.

Haha! I fought hard to never watch or read the "teeny bopper vampire saga" but the I got sucked in. Even went to vacation in Vancouver to see where they filmed etc. One thing to know is Robert Pattinson is a really good musician. The song playing when Edward takes Bella to the dinner after saving her, is him singing. And yes Kristen Stewart has one acting style "aloof/constipated". Ugh.

The thing about Edward's accent is that he was born in England & moves to the US after becoming a Cullen, & he's the youngest of them so he hasn't fully lost his English accent. So the actor was going for that mixed accent sound.

Edward was never from England. He has only ever been from Chicago. He was born and raised there according to the books and the wiki online about him. Carlisle was from England and so that's why he has a slight English accent still. Edwards accent is shakey in these movies because Robert didn't have an accent coach for this specific role so he was just using the standard American accent that he had learned throughout life but it's not a very solid accent and is a mishmash of a bunch of accent. He sounds southern at points. All due to the fact that he didn't have an accent coach to help iron out his accent and make it more cohesive and solid.

I saw this movie at the midnight release and everyone in the theater cheered when Edward kicked the Apple into his hands like the book cover LOL. Even though it’s such an awkward movie, Such bad acting (in my opinion) it’s worth watching, just to understand the cultural phenomenon that was the twilight saga lol!!

I read the books and saw the movies in theaters. In my opinion, the books are way better. I was "Team Edward". I had a shirt and everything! Lol. The scene where Edward first walks in to the cafeteria, EVERY GIRL SCREAMED! (Yes, I did too! Lol.) Looking back on it, I laugh my butt off. Oh, to be a teenager again! Robert's acting in twilight is cringe. He gets better in eclipse! I think it's because Edward's character grows as well! As for Kristen, her acting is cringe throughout the entire series. I still like,these movies. If it makes sense they along with a few others are what I put on when I don’t want to think. When I’ve had the sort of day that I just want to hang back and decompress maybe pay half attention playing a game on my tablet at the same time. To me the next movie is the weakest, mostly the first half of it. Alice’s origin story was in the first book but left out of the movie, you will get an origin story on most of the others. I think Rosalie’s was the most compelling but it’s not told until the third movie.

I actually loved the movies when I was younger. Now, they're still enjoyable but I can see the problems people mentioned, about their relationship and all. What frustrates me is how people were so cruel on girls (mostly) who loved these movies and books. They look like parents who don't make the effort of trying to understand what's appealing in it, just to mock those teenage girls. Sure, the story isn't a good role model. That doesn't mean you can make fun of other's interest just because you find it dumb. I guess people who discover them now, as adult, are more tolerant toward them. Some actually have a good time watching them, even just for the "cringy part".

15:33 - I think it was a few moments before you asked about why some people would die but others could be turned. Depending on "who's" vampire you are speaking about, that answer can very.

For example, in Twilight, to be turned you do actually have to die. Then, and it appears to be by choice, a vampire can inject their "venom" or something similar into your body that forces it to undergo changes, altering the body to function for a vampire and thus turning you into a vampire. Later on there is a scene that plays on a suggestion that it may be possible for someone to be turned without dying but idk if its true or not.

But, to further demonstrate, not every vampire in fiction is the same. May I suggest my own for an example? There are three kinds of Vampires in my world. Original Vampires, Shadow-born Vampires, and then plain Vampires. Originals, cant turn anyone. They can only kill. Nor can they mate. The only way they were able to turn people was through a ritual. Shadow-born vampires are very similar to Originals, but they can mate. Its just very difficult to successfully birth a child Vampire. And then there are the regular vampires can both turn people and mate. Turning people still requires a ritual to a degree, but not as complicated as the Originals. They can also mate, but the process of sucessfuly giving birth to a vampire is still dangerous. The issues lies in maintaining nourishment to sustain both the mother and child. Until later events, it was nearly impossible and both mother and child typically died.

Then, of course, there are others. In some works, vampires cant be turned at all but are caused by a curse. The list goes ever onward.

Yeah, I don't think he had an accent coach for this specific role. I really wish he had one. I think it would have improved the movie significantly as there wouldn't be such a shakey accent on his part. It's...not great. He even sounds southern in some moments. It's not a very solid accent. An accent coach would have helped iron it out significantly into a more cohesive accent, I think. Edward is meant to be from Chicago. He doesn't sound like it in the movies.

My prom kids had to go to the school then were checked for drugs or alcohol then had a private bus to the prom.... Me i was the guy who had weed and alcohol. I also had caused a lot of problems in the past and even pressed charges for illegal search and seizure, and profiling/discrimination. Three separate teachers lost there jobs in a two year period. They cant get jobs teaching anymore in these states. At best they can be private tutors. They maybe can try to teach in Louisiana or another deep southern state. Certainly no northern state will hire them.

Everyone says how cringy the acting and dialogue is - but I think it's the most authentic to highschool. Normal kids are boring. This is the first time we have a heroine that's socially awkward. Ed's social skills suck and they're equally dull people. But, this is the first vamp movie that looked like it could be real in real life to me because it was so low budget and the kids were authentically normal.

The books are better. The funny thing is that Shadow Hunters, The Mortal Instruments was better with Kathrine McNamara then the Twighlight series. Kathrine McNamara also plays as Oliver Queens Daughter in the series Arrow.

I want to say, the characters are written extremely awkward and creepy so K Stew and R Patz are just playing the characters to a T.

This. All of this. People rag on Kstew for her acting...but she has said in interviews this is what she was told to do. So she did her job. And as someone who read the books...yeah, she played Bella VERY well for how she is characterized in the books. Same with Edward/Robert. They are both decent actors...but the source material was...very mediocre teen romance novels. So they worked with what they were given.

His accent is British (which he is) but trying to be an early 1900’s American... it’s disconcerting. Hahaha a couple times the sounds entirely British. This series is so many ladies’ guilty pleasure and they def lean into the cringe cause they know it going forward. It was a huge hit so they just leaned into it.

Love you dogging on his accent the whole time...it is really strange! It's like a mishmash of a bunch of American accents. Edward is meant to be from Chicago...and Roberts accent ....isn't that. I don't think he had any accent coaching for this movie. It would have helped tremendously if he did. Cause holy hell his accent is spotty and just weird sounding at times.

I read all the books then the movies came out. When I watched this movie, I couldn’t understand how anyone could know what’s going on. The movie left SO MUCH out! Also, Kristen Stewart’s acting was horrendous!!!! I literally could not stand this movie! However, being that it’s years since I’ve read the books, and I have watched this series multiple times, it’s grown on me, but Kristen Stewart’s acting in this movie STILL makes me cringe. It gets better throughout the series. Still not the best though.
With all that said, I still own the full dvd collection. Lol
Like I said, it gets better. Enjoy watching!

Yeah, Edward is supposed to be from Chicago. He definitely doesn't sound like it. I don't think Robert had any accent coaching for this specific role so he was just using the shakey American accent he had under this belt...and it's not great. Very mish mashy of a bunch of different accents. Kinda wish he had an accent coach...they can make all the difference.

I only was able to find this video, From the link you left for new moon. I would put the first movie in the twilight playlist. So other can easily find it if the search fails.

Dude, you need to watch the whole movie. It was the highest rating movie and a wonderful trilogy. You are kind of lost and ignorant. Give the movie a chance without all of this negativity. Plus, you really shorten the movie a lot.
