Songz was born Tremaine Aldon Neverson on November 28, 1984, in Petersburg, Virginia. Raised a military brat, he recognized his vocal abilities at the age of 14. Reluctant to sing, he began performing with encouragement by friends and family. Record producer Troy Taylor discovered Songz during a talent show, which led him to a record contract with Atlantic Records. After graduating from high school, Songz moved to New Jersey to begin his music career.
2004β2006: I Gotta Make It
While recording his debut album, Songz released mixtapes under the alias Prince of Virginia. He made an βanswer trackβ to R. Kellyβs βTrapped in the Closetβ, entitled βOpen the Closetβ.His debut album, I Gotta Make It was released in July 2005 by Atlantic Records. It debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200, domestically selling over 10,000 copies in its first week of sales. Songzβs debut album yielded the singles Gotta Make It, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 87, and on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts at numbber 21, becoming his first Top 40 R&B hit. Another single, Gotta Go, peaked at number 67 on the Hot 100 and on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, at number 99.
2007β2008: Trey Day
Songz released his second studio album, Trey Day, in October 2007. The album again had only featured guest appearances by Bun B, who appeared on the opening track, and Jim Jones. Production on Songzβs second album had included, Bryan-Michael Cox, R. Kelly, James Harris, Terry Lewis, Andrew Harr, Bernard Freeman, Floyd Hills, alongside Tamir βNokioβ Ruffin, Justin Haro, and M.S. Eriksen. The album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200, selling more units than his previous album, I Gotta Make It. The lead single, βWonder Womanβ, peaked at number 54 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, but failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
The second single, βCanβt Help but Waitβ, peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, and at number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart; it became Songzβs highest charting debut on the Hot 100, and his first-charting R&B single on the R&B charts.[citation needed] βCanβt Help But Waitβ charted at number 74 on the Billboard Pop 100 in February 2008. The third single off of βTrey Dayβ, βLast Timeβ, peaked on number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, and at number nine on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. In 2008, Songz was nominated for a BET Award for Best Male R&B Artist.
2009βpresent: Ready
In 2009, βCanβt Help but Waitβ earned Songz a nomination for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 2009 Grammy Awards ceremony. He announced the upcoming release of his third album, Ready, scheduled to be released in September 2009. Ready is preceded by the first single, βI Need a Girlβ. Furthermore, a companion video to βBrand Newβ, was released in March 2009. Possible collaborators on Ready include Fabolous, Ne-Yo, Nelly, J. Holiday, Drake, Chris Brown, The Game, amongst others. Production is set to come from the likes of Stargate, Jermaine Dupri and Jim Jonsin.
Prior to the release of Ready, Songz released a mixtape titled Anticipation in June 2009 through his blog. This mixtape is the second mixtape released by Trey Songz in 2009, with the first being titled Genesis. Genesis was a collection of Trey Songz first recordings when he was fifteen years old and was released to show his fans the dedication that he had to making a record when he was young.

Yeah!
Look, baby
Ayy
You know you coming over right?
(Songbook, baby)
Hahaha
Yeah, yeah, uh
Baby, you a dime
Like a hour after nine
And that's the perfect time
You know that's when I'ma slide
I know you had to tell a lie
Just so you could come outside
And she keep me like her panties
Somewhere over to the side
You know just what to do
'Cause you got that good brain on you
Booty too
Well, you do that sexy move
They ain't teaching what we do in school
Breaking rules
You'll be coming when we going
Ain't no check out in the morn'
Baby, you can stay as long as you want
Be my guest
Be my guest, guest
Ain't no neighbor's night before
Ain't so sign outside the door
Baby, you can get as loud as you want
Be my guest (yeah)

Be my guest, guest
In Trey Songz's song "Be My Guest," the singer is inviting a female over to his home for the night. He compares her to a dime, meaning she is valuable and attractive, and says that he knows the perfect time for her to come over. He suggests that she may have had to tell a lie to leave her house, but he doesn't care as long as she is with him. Trey also mentions that the woman has both good brains and a nice booty. He says they can break the rules and do things they don't teach in school. Trey reiterates that the woman can stay as long as she wants and be as loud as she wants because there is no check-out time or sign outside his door. The chorus repeats the invitation to be his guest and highlights the fact that there is no one else around to disturb them.
The song is essentially about a one-night stand. Trey wants this woman to come over and spend the night with him. He doesn't care about anything else going on in the world because he wants to be with her. The lyrics are straightforward and simple. They focus on the physical aspects of the relationship rather than emotions or deeper connections. The beat has a seductive and sensual feel that matches the message of the lyrics.
